"It was a lot of learning, a lot of experience for me on how to deal with all this adversity. It was a really fun experience, it was great."

Hard not to love the mindset of this kid!

I'm familiar with the Omaha Lancers but didn't know they were such a dumpster fire. Now Yegorov is playing big games in front of big crowds, in one of hockey's most competitive leagues. I'm sure Devils management is pleased with the move.

His numbers got better moving from the USHL to NCAA and harder competition.

I can only extrapolate a similar bump up if he came to the NHL. So he should start in the playoffs and a save percentage of about .940 is a reasonable expectation.
So you think he starts slow and builds on that?

For anyone who doesn’t want to be miserable while watching a game, Big Mike is playing against UVM tonight on ESPN plus. Middle of the second and Mikey is pitching a shutout so far.

Edit: new Devil prospect Lachance is also playing. He’s tall I’ll say that much.

last game of the regular season for BU
  • little bit of a spooky moment mid 1st. squared up well to a shorthanded 2 on 1 shot (although he couldnt quite swallow it) and was run into by one of the attackers. seemed to clip his helmet. yegorov did need a breather, but all seemed to be good shortly thereafter
  • honestly that play (prior to getting hit lol) was pretty emblematic of his night. liked his tracking, thought his reaction speed and positioning on first attempts were good, but some difficulty holding pucks and directing rebounds tonight. thought he played his angles a little over aggressively on passing plays as well. perhaps a better team than vermont mightve been able to exploit that more
  • really liked one save attempt he had. 2 on 1 and the puck carrier comes in, spins around a diving BU defender, and slows down right in front of yegorov. guy was showing backhand and tried a forehand-backhand deke to get shake yegorov but big mike held steady and, realizing the UVM F had limited options w so little momentum tight to the net, made a quick poke well outside the crease to kill the chance
  • goal he let up was exclusively, and i mean exclusively lol, on bednarik. stripped from behind looking for a breakout pass which set up a cross crease opportunity for vermont, and not only that, but he tipped the pass as it went over which gave the UVM shooter a chance to elevate in tight
  • couple nice glove saves toward the end of the night, including a big stop on a clear breakaway
not the crispest game ive seen him play, but got better as it went on. hard to argue with going 21/22. excited to catch these postseason games

That glove save on the third period breakaway was impressive. Really confident and made it look easy. Agree at times his rebound control was a bit off but he makes saves.
