It's good to consider offensive stats for a Dman but I'd focus on his +/- this year. If he reaches about +25 this year I would be more than happy and would consider that he perfected his plays in the defensive zone. (quicker decisions, quicker passes, better overall positionning, stick blocking the shooting line etc etc.)

at 6'3, he will also be able to gain 10 to 20 pounds over the next 3 years or so. He's gonna be a heavy version of Markov :yo: .

According to Hockeydb: Height 6.03 -- Weight 206 lbs
Elite Prospect: Height 6.03 WEIGHT 98 kg / 216 lbs

Yeah I think he's closer to 216lbs although that I saw somewhere that he was at 220lbs.

Obviously, nobody will ever reach Dustin Byfuglien's size: Height 6.05 -- Weight 260. His speed vs his size is almost surnatural.

He was ~220 at the combine last summer IIRC

5 pts in his last 4 games. hopefully he's starting to heat up.

Guess he needed a bit of time to adjust back to Juniors.

Sergachev is going to be a stud for sure. Can't wait to see him next year with the team.

Is he eligible to play in the AHL next season?

I know he won't be in this years playoffs because of the Memorial Cup.

Habs likely told him to stop doing some things he does at the junior level, which he won't be able to sustain at the NHL level. His is likely simplifying his game and working on what style of play he will need to use at the NHL level. They know he can do end-to-end rushes and score; but they want to see him pay more attention to the nuances and details that go into defending and reading the play.

I actually think it's the opposite. I remember MB saying that Sergachev was simplifying his game too much so that he can play at the NHL level and that he didn't want him to do that. He wanted him to play the same game he played at Juniors at the NHL level and not do less.

Is he eligible to play in the AHL next season?.........I know he won't be in this years playoffs because of the Memorial Cup.

Emergency call-up? (2017 playoffs):
what if we're already past the (March) TRADE DEADLINE or already in 1st round playoffs...all or most of our LEFTIES get injured...Markov AND Emelin (or Beaulieu instead of Emelin) OUT with injuries...it would be great to have Sergachev there as #6-7 for playoffs...no? Can this happen? (or we're not allowed to use Sergachev in playoffs? I thought once the season is over we're allowed to throw Sergachev into the AHL to get him ready for our Hab playoffs...in case...ex: ''The Black Spades''...reserve playoff players,etc...if that's what it's called?!).

AHL (your question from the above): I think only at 20yrs young? (so, Sergachev has one more junior year left OR he plays with our Habs). Or, is it at 19yrs old? (can play in the AHL?).
At 18 yrs young....it's NHL or back to juniors (that one I know for sure!;)).

Darn it!! Wish we knew what management told Sergachev to work on in juniors? Simplify his game to be a better two-way dman (and not just be an offensive dman like Rieilly, for ONE example). Or, management told him to continue being offensive (do his ''thing''), but to first concentrate on a defense-first mentality (balance it out).

From how some are describing his game in juniors these days...it seems like (maybe?) he was told by management to work mainly on his defensive game (simplify it to be quicker and better prepared for the faster/better NHL??).

Hab fans pay Bergevin's heavy paychecks ($$$$$$$)...too bad he can't pay Hab fans back with some info on this. Everything is so ****** private with this guy. He thinks he's above your ''average Joe Bloe Hab fan''. Would be great to have info on this (what Hab GM told Sergachev to work on,etc). But, what can you expect from a clown who re-hired Therrien?:sarcasm:

Yup. MB said he found Sergachev was changing his style too much so he can stay in the NHL and that's not what MB wants. It showed him that he's not ready for the majors just yet.

I believe you are correct that he could be recalled under 'emergency conditions'.

I don't know what those conditions are though.

Or when his season is over but his team will host the Memorial Cup (unless he's traded).

I looked to see if I could find an interview with him since he was sent back but didn't find one. When there is one, he may give some idea what he was asked to work on.

no, it's NHL or OHL next year.
I thought that was the case but I wasn't sure.

I believe there were a bunch of 19 year olds in the AHL last season (Nylander, Kapanen, Fiala, etc.).

It was because those players didn't play in the CHL. For CHLers under its either NHL or CHL.

He goes from making $100,000 with being on the Habs roster for the first part of the season to making $00000 in Junior. He'll be fine... give him time to adjust back to Junior life. After all, it is only his 2nd year playing hockey overseas

Some seem really convinced he will be stud. Let's hope you people are all right.

Do you think otherwise?
I don't know, haven't watched him play enough. Would be unfair to judge him on the few pre-season shifts he had with the Habs because if I go off that he seemed really lost out there. Depends also what your definition of a stud is, since people like to use that word to describe him.

You can be 19 in the AHL, the Habs have had several. DLR, Avtsin, Kostistyn..... Plus Scherbak, if he was born 2 days later he would had to have been in the WHL last year. The rule is the CHL rule and only applies to players drafted out of the CHL. They have to turn 20 before Jan 1st to play in the AHL or have 4 full seasons played in the CHL.
