Spits fan here. Sergachev has looked nothing like he did last year in Windsor. He seems genuinely disinterested, only rushes the puck once or twice a game etc. Someone from Montreal needs to have a talk with him, get his head back in the right place. He's a great kid, has all the talent in the world, he's just not into it right now. Windsor has the best defense in the OHL too, not like he has to do it all himself.
He's going to be fine. The fact that he only rush once or twice is actually a good thing.

Yeah because he has a much bigger margin of error in junior where he has a huge edge in size, speed and talent over his peers so he likes to be in a strong shooting position and can easily make up for any weaknesses on board play. In the NHL he won't have that margin of error.

That said, it's not difficult for a D-man to switch from his offside to his natural side so I wouldn't worry about him playing RD in junior.

I know it's preseason but didn't MT move Petry to the left side to play Serge on the Right? Seems like he really likes the right side but the Habs actually need him on the Left! Weber/Petry are not going anywhere anytime soon.

Didn't Sergachev have a bad start to last year too? I recall hearing his #'s were insane in the 2nd half of the season. Give him time, he started the year with the Habs and then got sent down to Juniors. He made about $100,000 while with the Habs and now is making $0000

To me, I'm waiting for the world juniors. That's where Sergachev can make prove he's one of the next elite young D man. Anybody know if the Russians are a powerhouse this year and expected to be one of the top teams?

They still play him on the right side? WTF?

This guy is gonna play LD in the NHL with Weber, Petry, Juulsen. Better play him now on this side.

You do realize that Windsor couldn't care less about Montreals plans? They care about their needs.

Sergachev is basically Russia defense, aside from him they have no defense to speak of.

Maybe the Habs told him to coast through the season and not risk another injury while wasting his time playing Junior Hockey when he should be learning to play against men instead at a pro level.

That's not what this guys saying, he's saying he's disinterested, which is a serious concern for his development.

Thats how he plays, have you been reading Sergachev threads? That's the biggest knock on his game.

Just the opposite. Habs want their kids to perform and play their best. Martin Lapointe will have to kick him in the butt and make him understand what it takes to be a pro at NHL level.

I knew it was a bad idea to keep him after the camp....

You usually want your young players to not have a sense of entitlement until they actually make it. I highly doubt it

What a nonsense actually. Sergachyov expected to be 2nd pairing guy on this russian team, while Rykov-Sidorov will be our 1st pair. Both are KHL regulars with Rykov being more offensively gifted version of Zaitsev and Sidorov is very tough and stocky guy with bullet of a shot. And then we have Voronkov and Kudako, both are khlers too; add Zborovsky, who is very big and mean guy with hard shot, and we arguably have the best defense on the tourney even without Provorov. Is he most known russian D in NA eligible for this years WJC? Yes. Is he most talented D on this team? Absolutely. Is he expected to be our go-to guy on the defense? He's actually expected to be one of the best D on the team along with Rykov, Sidorov and maybe even Zborovsky, but no way he will be miles better than others, especially better than Rykov or Sidorov.

That was stupid of them to keep him around for a month. He already made more $$$ in that span than his family probably ever made in their lifetime, he might not strive to work hard to improve anymore because he's financially secure now anyway.

Maybe they told him to keep it simple and mold his game more like it will be in the pros.

I haven't seen him since the last time a week or so ago but he's got 4 pts in the last 3 games after starting the year with zero points in 5 of 6.

My friend married a girl from Sevastopol Ukraine.....her dad makes 400$ a month,

but like you said, he's obviously not content with just making 60,000$, of course he isn't.
