Sergachev only played 3 games in the nhl, so he was not rushed at all. Practicing and playing at an nhl level for a month will only make him better and accelerate his development.

McCarron wasn't rushed either. He was called up in the nhl like several other players when the season was already lost. McCarron also played really well this training camp + preseason, so I doubt last year 20 game stint had a negative effect on him. If anything it was positive.

Both Sergachev and McCarron have started slow their season, and I think one of the reason of it is that they thought they were going to be in the nhl right now. McCarron would have started in the nhl this season, but we did not have a spot available. Sergachev said he was shocked when they told him he was sent down, he was expecting to play at least a couple more games, and maybe even stay for the season. It will take them some time to get over it, but they will soon start playing to their potential. McCarron already looks a lot better now than at the start of the season. A few more games for Sergachev, and I think he will return to looking good after that.

Also, a guy who I would say was rushed is De La Rose.

depends on your definition of rushed. To me playing a single game in the NHL when you aren't ready is rushed, so McCarron and Sergachev were rushed and to me it was a mistake to do even if it pans out as why take the risk with suck important prospects to our future.

McCarron doesn't look better now, he had 7 pts in 9 games to start the year since then he's got 2 in 6 games. Even with the points he wasn't looking anywhere near the same as he did last year. It remains to be seen what impact playing in the NHL has or will have on him, my point is why take the risk. McCarron starts out with 20 pts in 21 games, since then he's got 27 pts in 52 games.

I hate when thay give false hopes to a 18 y.o. kid by keeping him instead of sending him back to his Junior team at the end of the camp.

Sergachev had all media attention and had a good taste of the NHL lefe. Now he is back riding the buses all across Ontario.

Samuel Girard in Shawinigan is burning the league after his great camp with Nashville. They could had kept him to play on their weakl bottom-six, but prefered to send him down and dominate his league. The kid reacted rather well.

Nothing like a good old reality check........if he crumbles mentally, whe never should've drafted him, but I'm not betting on him crumbling. Btw, it's not all across Ontario, there's another 1500km to Manitoba on the other side of Sault Ste. Marie

Big body, Big shot, Elite skating, Offensive skills = Future NHL star on Defense. Questions is is he a Byfuglien, a Burns, or a V Malakhov.

Based on what I saw so far, he's going to be very very good. The World Juniors is going to be where he makes a name for himself IMO.

Go on, tell us what you have seen. Most people here watch highlights, and place the 'franchise player' label on 50% of our picks.

Big OHL fan here and Kitchener Rangers season ticket holder. I have had limited viewings of him but it has been more of a team issue over a player issue.

The Spits have been decimated by injuries this year. Despite having a really good team they are just not scoring. Put it this way. They are in third place out of ten teams in their conference. They have just took a defence first approach to win games. The team ranks ninth out of the ten teams in the conference in goals scored.

Apparently he had his best game of the season last game

He also had this huge hit on Juolevi:

They still play him on the right side? WTF?

This guy is gonna play LD in the NHL with Weber, Petry, Juulsen. Better play him now on this side.

Nice interview on Hometown Hockey with Tara Slone, Mikhail talking about doing the old school workouts with Ivan Provorov in the summer. Six days a week from dawn to dusk, sounds like my floorlaying days when I was in my 20's, 30's and 40's, now I merely work 6-8 hrs. a day.(Not supervising, actually installing) Young people like Sergachev aren't the norm, very few young people have that type of drive, it seems anymore. Lucky Habs fans, that our GM puts emphasis on the character of prospects, instead of merely taking the most talented prospects.(Having talent without work ethics to match, not good enough after a long season, with Playoffs being harder.):nod::nod:

RD is his own preference.

Yeah because he has a much bigger margin of error in junior where he has a huge edge in size, speed and talent over his peers so he likes to be in a strong shooting position and can easily make up for any weaknesses on board play. In the NHL he won't have that margin of error.

That said, it's not difficult for a D-man to switch from his offside to his natural side so I wouldn't worry about him playing RD in junior.

Spits fan here. Sergachev has looked nothing like he did last year in Windsor. He seems genuinely disinterested, only rushes the puck once or twice a game etc. Someone from Montreal needs to have a talk with him, get his head back in the right place. He's a great kid, has all the talent in the world, he's just not into it right now. Windsor has the best defense in the OHL too, not like he has to do it all himself.

I think that's understandable. It might take a month or two for him to get his mental focus back. He's 18 years old, played in the NHL in the circus of Montreal. He'll be fine.
