true Hedman didn’t really blossom until his 4th season - Cooper’s 1st year. But serg has only played for Coop here. He needs to take some strides if we’re gonna commit to him long term. I like the kid & wanna see him grow into the 1D we all hope, but he’s got to grow up some. He’s only 22 I get that but he also has tons of games under his belt already
Well why wouldn't you, soft russians never do anythingyeah reminder that these same posters were calling for kucherov's head in the regular season last year.
Last season Sergachev ranked fourth on the team in point shares — a statistic that measures a player’s contribution to the team’s success in points, similar to win shares in baseball — behind Andrei Vasilevskiy, Victor Hedman and Brayden Point, in part because of his strong defensive game.
Serge says he wants to improve his offensive game but looking at the numbers he has 136 points in his first 4 seasons. That's tied for 25th most by a dman in the NHL over that span. 92 of them are even strength points - tied for 30th most by nhl dmen over those 4 seasons.
That's still very impressive for a dman from age 19 - 22 who doesn't play on the 1st pp unit either.
He had the most even strength minutes played after Hedman and McD, plays in all situation, that's a bit more valuable than a 3rd pairing label. He had a rough playoffs run but he was given a lot more responsibilities too. I expected more offense production tho, now that was disappointing.Kid's gotta be smiling like a butcher's dog over the contracts we're seeing league wide. f*** no at paying someone $7 million to rock the 3rd pairing

He had interview on Russian podcast at summer, and he told that he was dissapointed in his O game and that at the offseason he wil work on being better in offence and much stronger at defence. He was aware of his weaknesses and will work on them at offseason. So hopefully he will make a step forward.I was very disappointed in him last year. If he cannot improve from it we need to sell high. I'm serious. No more sheltering. No more hand holding. Play with Heddy or McDonagh and lock it down. The guy is absolutely horrible on the PP and can't even give us that as a silver lining. He needs to take the next step or be gone next summer.
I have no interest in the situation being 1 year from today that we are going into the last year of his deal and suddenly we're expecting to pay the dude north of $7 million with "this" being what we can get from him after what will have been 5 full seasons in the NHL. Then we go into year 6 talking about "how much he has grown as a player" and "proving himself" good God. Prove it now
I am also perfectly willing to eat some crow and admit I was wrong if he has a great year and proves me wrong.

Don't worry there's no chance he's gonna get $7M here when you see what Hedman and McD are getting. Not a chance, and he knows it himself. Money aside, give the kid some time tho, this is the year where he should start to put all things together. He's a dman you know.I was very disappointed in him last year. 2 games is BS- its his first real bad hit and he should have gotten 1 game and only 1 game! For guys like Tom Wilson who regularly make hits like this, and the league only gives a few games here or there is a complete joke! Wilson meant to break Cernak's wrists with his cross check a few days ago and got nothing! That was a play meant solely to injure! Serg's hit on Marner was stupid and not necessary but the size disparity and the speed of the play led to the higher than intended hit!
This. He has to dial it way back, and maybe this is a wake up call.I’m good with 2 games here. He needs a bit of reflection time anyway.
