Try find some video clips of MessierI remember that James Corden skit, pretty amusing, but I also remember thinking that the fake statue looks a lot like McDavid.
Also, re: the stretcher incident, which followed a Messier cheap shot that knocked Modano out cold.....that was in Dallas, wasn't it? Had to add insult to injury, in his own rink. I hope those paramedics got roasted.
If the Blue Jackets had put up a David Vyborny statue back in the day, I'm guessing people would have scratched their heads as well. You know you could've saved yourself so much time if you just started with that, right?
He's the franchise's all time leading scorer. His number's already been retired by the team.
Yes we know he never won any individual awards, never hit 100pts, stripped of the C, etc.
That's fine.
But he's still currently the greatest player in franchise history and fullly deserving of a statue to commemorate this fact.
Just my .02

Not sure if you mean Bobby or Brett, but Mike and Brett literally played together.Probably a top 2-3 American forward of all time? Id have Kane then Modano then Hull personally. Modano played through a lower scoring era than Hull did so I give him some benefit for that.

Modano is not a player deserving of a statue any more than Jonathan Marchessault is.

If your response to my post is bringing up David Vyborny as a comparable, then I'm not sure what else I can add to the conversation. Doesn't seem worth it at this point.
Wow.
Dammit, stole my jokeWhat about Madano's dog? Doesn't he get one, how will he survive...
*see lockout for reference
I think you would need a billion dollar budget to create a statue that does justice to the Eagle.
I’m not sure I’d say cocky. He was young and brilliant, perceived as a bit soft and perhaps lacking in that good ol’ boy character that gets media attention. It didn’t work out when they made him captain. But he wasn’t like a Zegras or Roenick, out there running his mouth or anything. Maybe more like a Mitch Marner.
humble guy
Good thing we don't ask Wild fans for permission.I'm not saying that Vyborny is a better player; I'm saying that it's a weird thing to put up a statue for a guy who was never the best player on his team, or a player who happens to have some particular record at a given time. Dallas should feel free to build its own history, after all, not rely on guys who played for other teams.
Also, there's a reason that Nieuwendyk won the Conn Smythe. If it hadn't been him, it should have been Zubov or Belfour or Hasek, not Modano. So... do they get statues? Modano is a classic case of accumulating points based on longevity, not actually standing out as an elite. But hard to convince people that started watching hockey in 1998 of "history."
Modano stole your lady back in the day right? Only thing I can think of as to why you would be spewing so much nonsense that is laughable at best. I get everyone has their own opinion but geez.I'm not saying that Vyborny is a better player; I'm saying that it's a weird thing to put up a statue for a guy who was never the best player on his team, or a player who happens to have some particular record at a given time. Modano is literally the first player that comes to mind when someone mentions the stacked Dallas Stars cup team. Some of you guys are crazy.
That's because Modano was the best and most important player on those Stars teams, with all due respect to Zubov and Belfour. Modano took on the head-to-head matchups against Sakic in getting through the western conference and generally got the better of those matchups, led the team in points while doing so, played on the first PP and PK units, and was on the ice to hold late leads.
Against Colorado, Modano matched-up against Sakic and Carbonneau matched-up against Forsberg. Nieuwendyk was a good player, but was opportunistic in that he was able to take advantage of weaker matchups. I'd argue that Modano, Zubov and Belfour (and probably Hasek as well) all deserved the Conn Smythe over Nieuwendyk. Don't believe me? Ken Hitchcock played Modano over 4 minutes per night more than he did Nieuwendyk....so who was more valuable to this team?
At the young age of 53, I believe Modano thinks all erections are well-deservedGreat hockey player, and this is a well-deserved erection.
Five kids under ten years old - looks like he's still got a great shot.At the young age of 53, I believe Modano thinks all erections are well-deserved
