Bounce back? It's easy to expect the worst when that's all we've seen from him. There's really only one direction to go from here - I just hope RC takes him out of the lineup whenever they play the Bruins - seeing him getting pummelled by Lucic all last year was real painful to watch.

Am I the only person here who expects Komi to have a bounce back year?
I know a lot of people, myself included, were expecting Schenn to have a really good year under Carlyle, but everyone is writing Komi off.

Will he play up to his contract? Probably not, but I think he's going to surprise a lot of people who expect the worst.

I think Komi will be put in a more favourable positon which is playing actual defense! When Komi keeps it simple hes surprisngly effective, he's very good 1on1 and extremely physical as well, the problem becomes when Komi touches the puck, he cant stickhandle OR make a proper pass, when he tries it it ends badly.

We have a very soft D and we'll need Komi to add a little toughness to it . I hope he can perform better in a more defensive system . If he can't we'll get rid of him one way or another in the summer .

He seems like a good guy and i gained alot of respect for him when he took on Lucic to try to spark the team .

I think they need Holzer to show he really belongs and to find out where Fraser is at. If Komi can't outperform both these guys in camp then he might be in trouble as they don't need three versions of the same player. They have injury concerns but these are with their skill players, and if Gards is a ways away or any of the PMD aren't 100%, that is an opening for Kostka , and H-J-K are still fighting for two pylon spots.
Komi has to have a strong camp because he has played poorly enough in his tenure he doesn't have anything in the bank. He will never earn his contract but he can still earn a 5-6 spot.

Every year, we think Komi will bounce back, every year he either sucks harder or improves negligibly. Since he's probably going to be amnestied and it's a short-season, I don't really care; he seems like a nice dude and all, but I just don't think there's a place in the game for the big but slow, low-IQ defenseman anymore.

Sucks in the twitchier, faster NHL. Might be able to slightly rehab with a new team a la Hal Gill but don't think he'll ever be a minute muncher again.

I think Komi will be a valuable player this year.

carlyle will focus Komi into a shutdown role and Komi won't have to worry about playing Wilson's fast paced run and gun style. All Komi should focus on is throwing his weight around and being a physical force out there.

Agree. The last seasons style have not suited him at all. Did not suit Schenn or Aulie among others either. I think with a bit more focus on actually playing d some players will bounce back others will fail to repeat previous good seasons.

Komisarek is virtually useless as a hockey player; that much should be painfully obvious to anyone who's seen him "play" for the past few seasons.

Hell, even an orange pylon is more useful than Komisarek. The guy is so brutally awful that he should be banned from stepping out onto any NHL playing surface.

He REALLY needs to go ASAP.

What was painful was that he was the only one with any guts, and he knew he couldn't win.

That was Burke's work in a nutshell.

Dont forget Grabovski who used to turn up against Boston as well. The rest how ever slowly shrunk after every Boston goal or tackle.

Komisarek played a good game tonight. I know that the Habs were very bad offensively but still. Would be nice to see Komisarek excel under Carlyle's defense first mindset

Nope he was overpaid the day he signed his contract. I am just hoping he has a solid year. He seems to play better under Carlyle though. He had a good ending to last season and had a good 1st game too. I didn't even notice him out there that means you are playing solid defense.

Buy him out. Does not deserve to be there.

Too slow and a liability every shift on the ice.

Ummm did u see him tonight? Hardly was beaten 1on1, used his body a lot, made the simple/safe play. I think he'll excel under Carlyle who will allow Komi to play to his strengths, not his weaknesses.

To be honest, he was an asset on every shift on the ice this game. I know he's been **** the last 3 seasons, but let's give the guy a chance. A new defensively-oriented coach can do wonders for a defensive-minded d-man. I'll give him 10 games. If he can keep this up, I'll be sold.

If he played this well every night, he'd suddenly be seen as an asset. Who knows? He's got one good game under his belt.
