Team now has a great mix of skill, grit, size and compete. Essentially what he was preaching and begging for for years and butted heads with Dubas all the time about. He would love this team now.

Keys to Dubas demise:
Bad goaltending
Coach who is uninspiring
Core without any grit

Dubas added Oreilly which augmented the core a bit but otherwise the rest hasn't changed.
 
No doubt Babcock has the higher ceiling from having won a Cup and playoff rounds previously. Prior accolades stop mattering though once someone moves to a new team. I'm certainly not intending to endorse Keefe here either as it's possible that neither will prove to be the correct choice in leading this team anywhere promising. Can't say I've been overly impressed with Keefe thus far throughout the team's grandest moments.

Did Dubas acquire Nicklas Lidstrom and no one notice? Because putting out Lidstrom for 30 minutes a game and telling him to run the ice is about the only reason for the difference in Mike Babcock's and Dallas Eakins coaching careers
 
He wasn't even that bad for us at the time. The lessons he was trying to teach them are still the shit we haven't learned.

I doubt he gets out coached by torts and Ducharme ( Cory Perry) as well.

Was he stubborn and an asshole hell yeah. He definitely had his faults but it's not like Keefe is less stubborn at this point and I'd rather him be an asshole then scared shitless of the players like Keefe.

However the way we went about it was awful. We undermined him with roster construction and then made him grovel to the players while dubas was a sounding board for their whining and lost his authority.

We set ourselves back 3 years (until last imo) by buying into Jack Hans bullshit too much. Ex: his tweet about him wanting to sit Dermott if Jensen came, yeah dude no shit that's a terrible pairing. Then giving the players so much power that we created a country club atmosphere

I think the absolute dogging of his character in the Toronto media after was a pretty classless move as well. Still doesn't sit well with me and comes from Dubas being insecure.

We'll see if Keefe can get us over the hump finally of not he needs to go.

Backend is way tougher now and as you say ROR helps to the point you could throw a Simmonds on the 4th line or even a Clifford for some shifts in the harsher games such as away.

Dubas demise will be to not address the obvious ref issue Canadain teams get on purpose from Buttman. When is the last time he let a Cdn team win? Roy and Lemiuex single handedly carried Montreal to insane levels.Every year its the same, every year we forget. Refs hate Canada, so hate them back. Its your game, not theirs. Without fans or not, no one pays to watch refs, except game riggers.
 
Babcock would fit this team like mayonnaise on a peanut butter and jam sandwich.
