If anything maybe a change of scenery does Gibson good. Going back home may be the only place he'd consider going because it's reported he doesn't want to leave Anaheim.

I think the thing with Gibson is his contract stinks but at least it falls in the window and then we can go full sell versus having Jarry float around for six years.

Plus like.. if Jarry keeps playing like he is, he’s too good to let us be an absolute shit team.

Injarry always finds himself in these peculiar situations though like last game I think it was Cody Glass that him in the head and knocked his mask off and after the play refs checking for that UBI.

Hence the nickname.

Just heard a locker room interview w Granlund where he was asked what he’s like as a player and he responded that he’s a smart player…so he definitely won’t fit in well here lol…probably be pissed when Letang tries to pass to him through 4 opposing players

Does Jake out perform is contract though? Hes been a useless twat for a good chunk of the season. Sid has been bouncing pucks off him just as much as Jake has been driving the play.
Guentzel's never really been a play driver. His skill is having the offensive IQ to read off of a skilled center and convert that into goals efficiently.

It's a valuable skill, and a rare one on this team.

Not disagreeing there. Question was if Jake is exceeding his contract value. In my opinion hes about right where he should be. He has great chemistry with Sid and Geno, but doesnt do much without one of them.

It's gonna be cool when this team hands Jake a $9.5 million AAV deal with huge term and a NTC that ensures they get peanuts for the player when he's eventually moved to begin the rebuild.

I think part of contract value is being a great fit, and I'd say Guentzel applies. What would we have to pay to replace his contributions?

Then again with TV revenue and At&t going under we may not be able to hand out bad deals for a while.

I think Hextall's gonna be carrying a box of his belongings out of his office like 30 seconds after the team's eliminated this season.

The reason I hope you're right is to see if FSG has a pulse.

Yes but are you ready to go 8x8 on his new contract? Or more. Jake post Sid is not going to be great value.
All depends on the next couple years.

If JG continued to produce and we were to add another high end center I'd be game, but ya know...our GM is an idiot.

Actually we should be in full tank mode post Sid so Jake probably doesn't work after that.

That hinges on finding another high end center. Something that doesnt grow on trees.

Hextall’s problem is he’s stuck on 5-7 years ago thinking for all his moves, which is probably when he was last a GM with the Flyers lol…Sure Carter, Petry, Granlund we’re all great players in 2018 lol…not so much anymore

I don't think Guentzel's contract is that great anymore. he has shown some flaws in his game this season and has got many "easy" pts. 6 million is about "right" for him and 8 million would be bad.

Today is the first time I have just felt badly enough for Sid, Geno and Letang to say we may want to consider just trading them next year and start the rebuild. At that point Sid has two years left on his deal and will be extremely valuable.

Either that, or fire this GM, and the next guy will be starting from a way deeper hole than him. But it's important whoever you hire has an actual plan about how to remake this roster. Trade Granlund to some bottom dweller who can use him properly, and reset things.

We did have the assets to change and fix the fundamental problems with the roster when GMRH came in. Could have traded Rust in a hockey deal when his cap hit was low to get tougher and better defensively. Could have bought out Zucker or traded him for scraps and signed a two way guy like Saad with the savings, could have traded McCann for something of actual value or kept him, could have cut bait on Kapanen a lot sooner, etc etc.

so was thinking maybe JT miller or Boeser retained. heck Chychurn was had for a pretty low cost imo.
Instead we are spending 5M per on Granlund. WTF?

we make it to the 2nd/3rd round because of this then fine. but this makes no sense to me at all.
