He's yet to show up at an optional skate. Panarin and Laf have yet to miss one. Now that those two are tasked with getting him going it would be nice to see him show up and participate with his new line mates.

I agree. It is a bad look unless he is dealing with a minor injury we dont know about.

Had his best game in a long while against the Islanders centering Panarin and Laf and tonight after 1 period the idiot behind the bench says, nope, not working, time for the blender. I mean how are these guys even going to gel if that dino keeps switching everything around as soon as they hit little adversity?

we are literally ruining the team trying to accomodate this loser. Back to the old lines where we have at least three functioning lines. Mikas line should be playing 3rd line minutes bc that is exactly what they are.

No reason to ruin two great scoring lines for this no effort loser.

We need to try to get rid of him one way or another. Guys like this are a cancer in the locker room- that attitude spreads

It's eventually going to come that we will have to buy this guy out. 5 years left after this season, going to suck for the cap hit but he is going to drag this team down for that entire contract if this is how he plays, and he's only going to get worse and worse over the years.

He has a buyout proof contract. All the bonuses make it so that you'd essentially be paying him to go away while taking on almost his entire cap hit and then losing some space on the back end of the buyout term as you normally would.

Might as well keep him around and see whether or not he is someone you can shelf on LTIR at some point or see if there is some role where you can find some use for him.

Retain would be the only way. You cannot spend 11+ million on a goalie and then buy somebody out for 7ish million on the cap. Retaining on ZIbanejad or some injury would be the only way. Obviously they would try and seek a trade first where they don't need to retain, but right now that doesn't seem likely.

I didn't even know that was a thing. I thought it would just the penalty from the cap hit. That is awful

That doesn't mean a player won't eventually waive it. Unlikely, sure, but the buyout option doesn't work when you have to spend the same amount anyway, and top of 11+ on goaltending.

It started innocuously enough. During a routine practice at Madison Square Garden, Mika felt a little off. His jersey clung to his back more than usual, and his skin tingled in an unfamiliar way. He brushed it off—perhaps just the stress of a long season catching up with him. After all, he was used to the grind. But when he wiped his forehead, his hand came away with a small rash. He laughed it off at first. Maybe it was just a reaction to a new laundry detergent. But soon, things took a bizarre turn.

Mika's body began to react more violently to the sweat that poured from him during exertion. Red patches appeared on his arms, neck, and face, quickly swelling into hives. His breathing became labored as his throat tightened. The team’s medical staff was called in immediately, and after a series of tests, the unthinkable was confirmed: Mika had developed an extremely rare allergy to his own perspiration.

At first, the doctors couldn’t believe it. How could anyone be allergic to something as natural as sweat? But the tests were irrefutable. Mika’s immune system had somehow begun to perceive his sweat as a foreign substance, triggering an allergic reaction whenever his body heated up. Even a light workout in the gym would send his body into a frenzy of itching, swelling, and difficulty breathing.

sadly, this is one of our only hopes

Zibanejad emerged as one of the dynamic centers in the game.

He now glides around and avoids contact completely.

He needs to be scratched immediately and told that when he comes back in, he better play hard because nothing is given on this team. Complacency will not be accepted.

You cannot be successful in this league if you are not willing to get dirty, unless you have generational level vision, speed, or shooting abilities.

The coach needs to send this guy a clear message. I believe he still has more in the tank but it might require some tough love.
