Literally saved our season.

If he and Panarin can both get going at the same time, the Carolina series goes from probably pretty ugly to we may actually have a shot at this thing.

Update: If he can Panarin can both get going at the same time, the Tampa series goes from probably pretty ugly to we may actually have a shot at this thing.

So, in points produced he's 3rd in the league in playoff points. I consider that dishonest, so I go by PPG. So far he's 1.36 PPG, 14 games, 7 goals, 12 assists, 19 points, tied with Kucherov in PPG. That's a company that is ok to hang around with. Kucherov is paid a million more for his duties.

Well, Zibanejad has helped his team even in his early struggles when he JUST produced a 0.8-0.9 PPG as a scorned bum while still keeping defensive duties a guy like Kucherov could ever dream of. While helping Kreider pour in goals.

He can score in prolonged bunches or he can be a splendid playmaker (like all the time), he can be a beast 200 ft over the ice, whatever is asked. He might be a bit weak at faceoffs. But he has 15 takeaways crowded in a spot of alot of great defensive players (Slavin dominated that bit). Speaking of takeaways, Panarin is really great at it, he's a phenomenal forechecker in his own way. He steals so many pucks and isn't regarded as high as it should.

Anyhow, check Zibanejad's production in key moments as he has basically done in his entire career. Are the doubters done with complaining he's not a star in october the next time it happens? He needs the games to be important to get into the zone - or if he's just in the zone from having too much fun and outscores anyone in the league in bursts. Anyway he'll still carry the weight and the contract of his performance even when he's not in the zone. For being in a slump, Mika was still a really useful player for the team.

Can you see how he basically always goes turbo mode when the game really matters? So the next time we have the instant criticism Mika isn't a beast in october, remember this: This is what he plays for. I've seen exactly the same thing in the national team, Mika is amazing in the national team when you need him to be. He refuses to lose and loves to win more than most.

Can I call Mika Zibanejad a consistent star player that has a high floor in his game in his slumps while having amazing streaks when he's hot? More amazing than anyone else in the league at this point? He's consistent with an added determination not many teams can handle in key games.

Mika once again in the 3rd period was skating like he was shot out of a canon. Second 3rd period goal that won a game. His goal in game 7 versus Penns was bigger than Breads ot winner...Now last night oh my!!
Bolts took away that shot he takes on PP...but he will adjust and continue to lead us to Final..

how is this nickname? Third period Mika

Mika is probably the team MVP outside of Shesterkin. He and Fox. Panarin is a luxury point getter, but Mika is the engine. Not comparing him to a McDavid but what he does on both sides of the puck is pretty staggering. It’s not that he’s on a Bergeron level defensively in terms of talent, but he is the only center in the league who is top 10 in points that is also top 10 in PK minutes, and those are simply hard minutes that have to take their toll on you over 82+ games. So while I’m not saying he’d put up 20+ more points if he was used in purely offensive situations the way some of the centers who out score him do, I do believe that he has among the most asked of him of any top center out there. He plays significantly more PK time than even Selke Barkov, etc. Definitely a horse for us and he proved he will show up when the games matter and the going isn’t easy.

He really did step it up. Struggled at first but then really dug deep and put this team on his back. One of the best playoff performances for us (excluding goalies) in a very long time

Six years ago Jeff Gorton pulled off a heist. Since being traded, Zibanejad is tied for 32nd in the NHL in points per game (.90) and tied for 22nd in goals per game (.41) among players with at least 100 games played.

Brassard was one of my favorite Rangers, even got his jersey. Mika may not have had the same playoff opportunities Brass had, but he sure showed this past one that he is clutch.

Not sure exactly where this trade ranks in terms of deals made by the team, but it is up there.

Game one of the ECF might have been my favorite Mika game ever. The guy really did prove it all this past playoffs.

Mika willed us to wins in Game 6 & 7 against Pittsburgh. The game tying goal in Game 7 was one of his best moments as Ranger

When he’s on he’s a top 10 forward in the game. When he’s in one of his tofu phases he drives you crazy. I hope he can start the season strong and not take 4 months to get his stuff together . Give me 2019-20 Zibby pls

[Lol, had to click through all the way to the 6th page for this]

A few more interviews with Zib and swear I might be heading to change.org and launching a petition "LEAVE ZIB ALONE"..

I mean it's obviously excruciatingly painful for the guy answering all these bland, dumb, run of the mill questions. I know the "media" want the star-studded circus and the players are probably contractually obliged to satisfy, but if it's so hard for him it's equally bad for me, the viewer.

Does anybody *like* listening to his interviews specifically? Doubt that.

PS OTOH many interviews with Zib obviously means that Meatka the Mikachu is in the house ;-)
