Since this is basically the All-Star break, here are some thoughts on who probably leads in the team awards categories:

Cyclone Taylor Trophy is (MVP, voted by the fans) - Easy choice for Quinn Hughes.

Walter "Babe" Pratt Trophy (best defenceman, voted by fans) - Another easy choice for Hughes, obviously. Since fans tend to vote for the latest intrigue, I dare say that if Hughes weren't on the team I'll bet they'd vote D-Petey. ;)

Cyrus H. McLean Trophy (leading scorer) - Currently also Hughes, and pretty unlikely to be anyone else barring serious injury (🫣)

Fred J. Hume Award (unsung hero, voted by fans) - This award almost never actually goes to an unsung hero, but rather "the non-star player who attains the most hype during the year". Often the team messages it strongly themselves (e.g. Dorsett, Granlund, Motte) and the fans buy in. So this year it'll probably be Kiefer Sherwood, or possibly Kevin Lankinen, even though both have been extremely "sung". Maybe Conor Garland is actually deserving here, and even an outside shot at Pius Suter. My own pick for this, in the true spirit of the award, is probably actually Derek Forbort.

Three Stars Award - Have to assume Hughes is running away with this, but if not likely Lankinen. We know Jake Debrusk weirdly won the Molson Cup for, I believe, the Only Time They've Presented it Since 1998.

Pavel Bure Most Exciting Player Award as voted by fans. They often choose an attention-grabbing player who isn't the MVP, or an "emerging player" more than anyone. It's hard not to choose Hughes here again on a literal reading, but given past winners (e.g. Nils Höglander in 2021, Kuzmenko in 2023, Kassian in 2014) this could very well be, say, Garland or, like, Debrusk.

Daniel & Henrik Sedin Award (CSE panel selection for outstanding community leadership) - I feel that I mostly see guys like Suter or Teddy Blueger at hospital visits? Hard to say here.

Taylor, Pratt, McLean and Three Stars Award are all easily Hughes. Heck, the Most Exciting Player Award probably goes to him too.

The Hume Award I would think Garland or Forbort. Or maybe Myers, actually.

I think Boeser for the Daniel and Henrik Award.

I like Myers for the unsung.

Sherwood is a great story but he gets his flowers and appreciation.
Blueger and Suter are decent choices but their impact isn't really all that important compared to Myers.

Myers has a lot of divisive opinions but it's hard to ignore his impact on the ice. Especially the last 2 years where I've really changed my opinion on him.

Hume should be Forbort or Blueger but it'll be Sherwood/Lankinen/Garland probs

Blueger is an excellent choice. I think Garland is due for something. He got shit on a lot here for being part of a dogshit trade, but all he does is show up and give 100%. He no shit kept us buoyed with Lankinen the first part of the year.

I can't say enough good things about the guy. Me and my mum see a lot of Burrows in the guy. Also came in here originally to say Myers @strattonius but I chicken'd out. Another excellent pick.

Hughes should rightly sweep pretty much all the awards barring the unsung player.

Lot of options for that one. I'd probably go with Suter. He's taken on the 2C role when called upon, and put up elite defensive metrics at 5v5 and the PK.

I could see the public going with like Sherwood for most exciting. Lot of hits, most of his goals are kinda like rush snipes.

Boeser for the Henrik and Daniel award. Most community events they post about I tend to see him there.

Extremely boring awards this year. Hughes for everything and one of Forbort/Suter/Blueger for the unsung player.
Well now youve sung Forborts name so much that he no longer qualifies. Happy?

Suter would be my easy pick for unsung hero, personally.

As someone who placed a higher value on Blueger last season (and considered him the unsung hero), Suter has taken a noticeable step forward, has been very consistent/well rounded/great at both ends of the ice, no longer has the luxury of playing complementary third wheel to the good version of Miller/Boeser, has instead been crucial for absorbing the deficiencies of Pettersson/Miller throughout the season (some nights he feels like the 1C by necessity and doesn't even look that out of place doing it), as a C manages to typically come out even or better despite rarely getting to play with Hughes and being saddled with the awfulness of the remaining D-Core, has done all this with revolving door linemates/a completely ambiguous role that changes on any given night, and has, in my opinion been as good or better than Sherwood all season, but has gotten virtually zero discussion or hype for it for some reason (even though people usually acknowledge that he's played well). Hell, I'd say he got more attention during his weaker season than he does now (guess because he's no longer a shiny new toy?).

Blueger actually seems to have gotten more attention this year (and even in this thread) than Suter has despite falling off for stretches (maybe because he stood out more early in the year and was tied to Sherwood's early success?).

I disagree with Myers. While sure, the way people react to him is disproportionate to how he now plays (kind of earned it from past reputation, though), he's still too much of a Jekyl and Hyde player to be considered for something like this in my opinion (he looks great now, sure, but some nights this season, he's absolutely terrible and emblematic of the team's problems on defence). Forbort is in a similar boat. Way too much recency bias with those two picks, IMO.
