Crosby's still got it...he should request a trade to a contender

He was the best player on the ice last night.

Would love to see him on a contender
Well, he did take the last two games off before the tournament so he should have had a little more in the tank. He looked really good, he'll likely have a beast of a tournament then mail it in when the season resumes as there's nothing to play for.

Crosby once said to friends and other players, that he'd love to finish his career with the Habs since his dad was drafted by them and he was a Hab fan growing up. This comes from ex-team mate Laraque just minutes ago. Before everyone loses their shit, I'm not saying he'll be traded to MTL.

Crosby has been adamant that he wants to be a one team guy just like his idol Yzerman. He's not going anywhere. He has said this every time he has been asked including this season.

Even if the Penguins wanted to move him to get assets (which they wouldn't get enough to warrant moving him), he'd say no because he simply does not want to leave.
The Wings weren't bottom feeders like the Pens are (becoming) though. Was easy for Stevie Y to do when the Wings were still winning cups and going on deep playoff runs late into his career thanks to Lidstrom and the seamless transition from Yzerman/Fedorov to Datsyuk/Zetterberg.

Crosby is too competitive to want to miss the playoffs for the last 5 years of his career.

I get wanting to stay in one jersey for your whole career, but youd think being a "Team guy" means helping the team build the best they can for the future and that means getting assets for you.

To Crosby, I think it's more important for him to finish his career as a Pens.

He's won everything there is to win in hockey. What else is there for him to prove? He's proven time and time again he will go down as one of the best to ever play.

Or maybe your opinion of what Crosby thinks is wrong and what Crosby has said multiple times is correct?

Winning with a new team would be a lot easier if that team isn't trading assets for you. Crosby could have walked away from Pittsburgh and have gone anywhere he wanted had he not signed a contract extension. I'm taking a wild guess and assuming he wanted to stay with the Penguins.

With a contender team, you can tell he'd still be a 100+ point player even at 37, instead of a 85-95 pts player with a below average team.

Crosby's not going anywhere, though. Staying a Penguin for his entire career is probably a key priority and motivation for him, and he has that "ride or die" mentality with this team.
Either way Crosby has earned the right to write his own ticket and his legacy is already a solid 5th best guy ever and he is just adding to that with performances like last night.

I'm not quite old enough to have seen Orr in his peak but I feel blessed watching the USSR explode on the elite hockey scene as well as Gretzky, European invasion and growth of the game in the Unites States.

The game has never been better and Sid has been and still is one of the best embassorders of the game.

A true hockey legend.

At the end of the day, I don't think many teams are able and willing to give the Pens what Sid is really worth. We are talking multiple 1st, 2nds and 2-3 grade A prospects
He's worth whatever can be gotten for him at a certain point. Just seeing him traded would help tremendously with a rebuild, nm any assets they could get for him

in 2 years from now while he is going to be a UFA, yes! Right now, I have to disagree. A team trying to acquire him now is going to have a legit shot at a cup for the next 3 seasons, sorry but he will not be moved for a late 1st that probably never ends up playing in the NHL anyways, we are better off keeping him!

People spent 20 years hating on the Penguins and Crosby and now people wanna act like they're owed him finishing out his career on a different/better team

This topic always triggers penguins fans 😂

because there's been 0 reporting to suggest it's a possibility. In fact, there's tons of evidence in support of it never happening. So when people continue to speculate it's pretty f***ing annoying

Crosby. Doesn’t. Want to.

I disagree with him, but he gets to call that shot. Dude is also incredibly superstitious and set in his routines, so I kinda get why he wouldn’t want to change a damned thing about what he does.
