Why wouldn’t he be ? Sharks got their own Torts ?... is Celebrini in tho
The sharks are doing Leo Carlsson-style "development days" where they pre-agree to healthy scratch Celebrini and Smith to reduce load. a back-to-back road game is a prime candidate for scratchingWhy wouldn’t he be ? Sharks got their own Torts ?
Smith has been sitting every 4th or so games for development reasons, and Celebrini is supposed to be on the same plan. Back end of a back to back and Celebrini has played in 4 straight. Why wouldn’t he be ? Sharks got their own Torts ?
Much ado about nothing methinks.
For those who didn't watch the OP video, Torts said "... just part of the process ... young guys can watch games too, as far as development ... it's trying to help him".
You can disagree with the move or with his methods, but it sounds to me like he's motivated by player development, not vindictiveness.
(For the record, I'd prefer to see Michkov on the ice too.)
Has Michkov/Zemula been asked to comment about this?
Ok, so we can also all pretend Michkov on the development plan - sit two games every 13 gamesSmith has been sitting every 4th or so games for development reasons, and Celebrini is supposed to be on the same plan. Back end of a back to back and Celebrini has played in 4 straight.
Mission to turn him into a grinder, failing.Goal and an assist.. so far.
Torts said at the beginning of the year, before any regular season games had been played, that Michkov would sit some games. Funny how nobody chirped Carlsson when Anaheim sat him 40% of the time.
I believe Trots has Michkov's best interests in mind.

]I personally think it is dumb to enforce load management on teenagers like ANA, SJ & PHI are doing. Especially when it’s one of your 5 best players. It sends a message that winning is optional, which is much different than a traditional rebuild
You always hear from veterans on how the season is so grueling there is really no time during the season to keep all the muscle they gain in the offseasons, so they essentially lose some of the gains from each offseason during the seasons.Well, to be fair, a lot of that 40% Carlsson sat was due to injury. The original plan was to have him play a few games a week, ramp up depending on how he was physically coming along, and be full time by around January. Him getting hurt sort of blew that plan up, but it wasn't like the plan was to have him only play 55 games ... I believe the original plan would have had him only missing about a dozen games total.
It's not about "load management." It's about giving teenagers who are still not physically developed extra time to build up their bodies during the season, and potentially get them physically to a place in a few months, where they'd otherwise not get to until the next offseason. In effect it's a plan to speed up development. You probably wouldn't do it with a 22 year old rookie, and it's not like they're sitting out resting up to save wear and tear.
Or maybe Torts didn't see the response he wanted in practice or it was just torts being Torts who knows but it seems to have worked at least for one game and the team got 3 of 4 points in the 2 games he sat.I'm surprised at the second game. Only logical thought is the kid who replaced him played well and deserved another game?
Tyson Foerster scored at a higher pace as a rookie two years ago and is trending just fine.Mission to turn him into a grinder, failing.
so far.

There was a joke with the sharks board under the wilson era, that was asking who had the best v02 oxygen testing at the draft columbine is who the sharks would be picking.Periodization science has become pretty advanced in recent years when it comes to developing young players. Teams will measure every player’s vitals during training and games and pair that with Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) scores to know exactly how to manage load. RPE is pretty established at this point and I would be shocked if a professional club like Philly and SJ are not using these methods to manage their players.
Michkov looked good tonight and I’m sure Philly will use him for every game they can while making sure they maximize his development curve by giving him proper rest as needed.
100% goal+assist+shootout goal and all because Torts healthy scratched him for 2 games, otherwise it definitely wouldn't have happened! Torts is a genius!Looks like a great decision after all. Development is the priority.
