Michkov to be healthy scratched tonight

Sigh. Bedard was getting caved in at ES moreso than Michkov despite his generational conditioning but was allowed to play and develop through it since his coach and organization understood that he was their team's franchise player. Michkov is getting scratched not because his play or development warrants it, as there are many other veteran players on Philly's roster playing worse and generating less and he is STILL the offensively starved Flyers's second leading scorer despite the scratches, but because Torts has a pathological need to do something like this every year to satisfy his power dynamic and attention whoring complexes. The simple fact is that given the way Michkov has played and produced this year, there is not a single other active coach in the NHL who would have benched him at this juncture. Though the guy who Columbus hired because of their Torts nostalgia and had to reluctantly fire for scrolling through Fantilli's dick pics a month later probably would.

Maybe once Torts gets fired after running Michkov out of town he can come back to a hero's welcome from his foaming stans in Columbus and teach Fantilli and Marchenko all the nuances of being reel gud pros that he's teaching Michkov and Morgan Frost.

Yeah speaking of "foaming", you definitely don't sound like someone who is carrying around years old grudges.

Michkov's play 100% took a step back in the last few games. He looked just plain tired. Give him a rest and bring back the magic.

1 secondary assist in 172 minutes of ice time at 5v5 wouldn't be acceptable for Nic Deslauriers, much less for an offense first player who doesn't bring a ton else to the table.

GM is an idiot for not healthy scratching the coach.

The only good thing happened here is that Michkov is not going to stay with this "disorganization" for more than 3 seasons.

And I would not be surprised if it is his last season in the flyers uniform.

It would be nice if Torts held others to the same standards and levels of accountability as he holds against Frost, Brink, and now Michkov.

Accountability should first start with him and his coaching staff. Delete Rocky Thompson.

He had a few bad games before getting scratched, this isn't an attack on you but you clearly don't watch all of his games. The guy has created at 5v5 and the advanced stats back that up, if you follow him truly though you'd know that. This is the worst hockey team in the NHL imo, absolute gutter dumpster fire, no reason he should be scratched.

Haven’t paid that much attention but if torts is sitting there saying he’s not playing well I don’t like that. The focus should be purely on the fact that he’s young and this is for his development.

For those who didn't watch the OP video, Torts said "... just part of the process ... young guys can watch games too, as far as development ... it's trying to help him".

You can disagree with the move or with his methods, but it sounds to me like he's motivated by player development, not vindictiveness.

(For the record, I'd prefer to see Michkov on the ice too.)
