Just for funzies, I'm wondering where people think Michkov would go in an alternate reality where he defects to the US (or Canada if that makes visas easier somehow) and announces he's on the Phil Kessel summer training program and has already added 20lbs.

Could he go #2 if he could play in October?

Ignoring the political issues and contract stuff....he is the 2nd best talent in the draft.

I pictured him smuggling himself across the Berlin Wall in the trunk of a car, but apparently he's already gonna be in Nashville this week
Imagine though if only one team knew that he could opt out of his KHL deal, and that he intended to do so.

Denver Colorado
Reminds me of Pavel Bure and the canucks
Or Jagr with the Pens

Both teams did their homework

Burke even said everybody had him at 1 but they couldn’t make sense of the military requirement

Defect? Really…..

last time I checked therevis not a KHL-NHL agreement around contracts being honored.
Yes there is. The NHL will not allow you to come over from the KHL if you currently have a contract. The only way is to buyout your own contract and your NHL team is also not allowed to pay it for you because of the agreement between the 2 leagues.

As for the OP he comfortably goes 3rd or 4th and maybe 2nd if Anaheim believe they have 2 centers and are better picking up a winger. He is without a doubt the 2nd best player in the draft.

I'm pretty sure this would f*** things up even more since he'd be prevented to play anywhere.
