Just for funzies, I'm wondering where people think Michkov would go in an alternate reality where he defects to the US (or Canada if that makes visas easier somehow) and announces he's on the Phil Kessel summer training program and has already added 20lbs.
Could he go #2 if he could play in October?
ummm dude try alt reality 1117, hurry or you're going to miss a giant hot dog eating Phil Kessel ....except in that reality Phil Kessel is not a hockey player, he is a trash man with a receding hair line going through a expensive, emotionally taxing divorce. Michkov is a Capital in that reality and every other one. So yeah there is that thereJust for funzies, I'm wondering where people think Michkov would go in an alternate reality where he defects to the US (or Canada if that makes visas easier somehow) and announces he's on the Phil Kessel summer training program and has already added 20lbs.

Shut yo mouth! lolI'd have a very hard time picking between Bedard and Michkov personally.
ty for eventually suspending your disbelief and playing my gameYes there is. The NHL will not allow you to come over from the KHL if you currently have a contract. The only way is to buyout your own contract and your NHL team is also not allowed to pay it for you because of the agreement between the 2 leagues.
As for the OP he comfortably goes 3rd or 4th and maybe 2nd if Anaheim believe they have 2 centers and are better picking up a winger. He is without a doubt the 2nd best player in the draft.
In our scenario he's literally applying for some form of refugee status. And he got it. And he can freely travel or work wherever he likes. And his body is ready for the rigours of an 82 game season, and any other logical objection you could possibly conceive has been nullified by the sheer magic of an imaginary scenario and you also got Freaky Fridayed with Pat Verbeek. It wouldn’t be defection, he simply wouldn’t be honoring a contract and the nhl doesn’t let you play if you do that. Part of their agreement now that Russians can come over. It’s not 1990 anymore.
Also Phil Kessel is what peak performance looks like. A Roman god bod with a protective layer of blubber. Makes it Conor Meh-nard, Mich goes first.
Getting away from a civil war might be one....He's not coming over until his RFA years are almost done. Why get paid less in the NHL?
I think he gets arrested for the murder of his father and he gets scratched from ever draft list...come the final round...a scout from the New York Islanders calls Lou and says ...Michkov just got released and is innocent. Islanders proceed to choose Michkov for their 7th and final pick of the 2023 NHL draft.
Getting away from a civil war might be one....
That worked out real well for Montreal taking kotkaniemi at 3 and passing on tkachuk…Either 2nd or 4th. Columbus has to take a center.
The one that was just averted and could pop up again at any time...or don't you watch the news? What civil war?

If he defects he would look good in Chicago on a line with Wagner
Both are pretty shit things to go through too.Defection Fantasies and Defecation Fantasies are almost spelled the same. Pretty different kinds of fantasies though.
