With the prices of the market and the contract situations, if you can get Hendrickson for 2 seconds and Ojulari for like a fourth, wouldn't you rather have that and the peace of mind that comes with it for the cost of an extra 4th rounder?
Especially because of the lack of downside. With a roster this close to complete, what exactly would the Lions use those picks for? A third wide receiver? A backup guard? Because you certainly shouldn't expect to get a starting edge rusher drafting there, let alone one that could jump right in and be an impact player right away.

I guess the idea is that you'd use them to keep your depth as guys eventually price themselves off the team, but I agree that if you truly think this team has a shot at a SB you go all in.

The Lions aren't built around a true franchise QB ala a Mahomes or a Brady. They are built on their depth to some degree which makes that competition window a bit smaller I think because guys start to eat up cap space.

Detroit
7-1 and 2-0 in the division feels pretty damn good. They still need help with their pass rush if they want to go all the way, but absolutely no complaints about the season thus far.
It sounds like the Smith trade is going to be announced tomorrow. I wouldn't mind them adding another decent edge rusher, with Smith, if they're able to. DE was maybe the one spot they couldn't afford injuries at this year and 3 of them have season ending injuries lol.

My only complaint is that the game I went to this season was the one against the Bucs lol.

I think with Smith and Paschal back, you can win the superbowl with those guys. You mix and match some guys to give them a break but its doable. Getting a little more depth there would be great though, I dont trust Houston at all. Its a shame he hasnt been close to his rookie year

Yeah. I'd prefer to add Smith plus one more guy of his caliber, but it's at least feasible to get it done with adding one guy of that level.

I really don't see anybody in the NFC being able to stop Detroit. It's just whether this roster can do enough to mitigate a Patrick Mahomes or Lamar Jackson on the biggest stage.
