Currently absolutely. Kasper has not shown a distinctive offensive upside yet. Banking on players future performance hitting that next level can burn you ie Mantha. We could have traded Mantha for oel or Yandle, but Mantha had high potential that never materialized.

I like Kasper as a 3rd line center, and as a character player. I am withholding judgement based on the small sample size, but ... WHAT THE HECK!? He looks like a next gen Draper type center. Nothing wrong with that role. In fact, it is a critical one to fill.

On the flip side of the sample size, Cozens does not have numbers that appear to justify 7.1M today let alone through the 29-30 season. Of course, as the cap grows, the hit becomes smaller as a % of the total.

The forecast here is the obvious challenge. Kasper appears well on his way to being that lock down, limited offensive side NHL center. Cozens flashed offensive production (in 1 season) as a 2nd line center as a coveted right hand shot.

Contracts aside, I think I still stick with Kasper. The only concession here is I am not really following Buffalo, other than to understand they are a BEEP SHOW. Eichel left and only elevated his game, but he was a bad a** before he left. I just can't project Dylan. Kasper's floor is a Draper like player. Not as fast, but better hands, solid everywhere on the ice.

He played with an edge last game, it was nice to see. When he gets some momentum and throws his weight around, you can tell it puts the opposition on edge.. if he can find a way to bring that consistently he has great value. He still struggles to make some routine plays in the offensive end, that may never change.

We should keep this banter alive. Rasmussen was dropped to the 4th line and had his most physical game of the year. Seriously, he had a good game last night.

I was travelling last night and missed last nights game. I truly don’t know if your post is genuine or a victory lap/sarcastic dunk?

I was being serious. He threw a couple of very solid forechecks. One of the behemoths on Chicago's blue line knocked him down and it seemed to fire him up. He played well along the boards and in front of the net. He could always skate, and has always been reliable in his own zone. He was very good last night. 100% sincere. Hopefully a few others will chime in, but he had a solid game. He also had JV as his center. < Dude went from the top line to the 4th in a week. That's gotta sting.

That's great to hear. I dog Rasmussen a lot but it's mostly because he has the potential to be so much more. I don't expect him to be a great goalscorer but he could use his size more and work on being a better net front presence.

Hopefully he keeps it up.

I feel like we have this conversation about Ras every couple of months or so.
