Anyone executive's ego that is bigger than what's best for the team can take a hike, even if it's messier.

why would we want an egomaniac like messier behind the bench? this is a bold statement but ill make it anyway, mark messier will never be the head coach of a playoff team in this league.

Yea because after a handful of games it's obvious that he has no control of the locker room, and from the get go it's been obvious he has no clue how to coach in a big market since Vancouver gets no media little to no media attention and their attendance is comparable to Phoenix and Florida right, definetelly no big market experience there.

Love how everyone assumes messier is going to make an amazing coach based on what? Yea he was a great captain but how does that directly equate to him being a great coach and one that would immediately succeed in this town.

Very convincing argument.

Apparently he signed on as some type of "consultant." No other team in this league wanted to make him head coach so he called in favors from the good old boys up in Edmonton and even they wouldn't give him a real position, instead opting for the "younger generation."
