These platitudes sound like something Chipman's secretary wrote weeks ago.

Words mean nothing, I want to see action.

A new coaching staff who demand accountability in the locker room.

Any player who is not on board with this needs to be removed.
But that would be harsh and unkind. Definitely would not follow the commitment and mantra of TNSE, aka Mark Chipman's daily "devotional reading". Ha, ha, ha...release them all.

The world is harsh and unkind. :thumbu::nod:

Chipman couldn't even look Sara Orlesky in the eye during his interview last Friday against the Flames.

He just sat there, shoulders slumped, looking at the floor.

It's no shock to me why the Jets appear to be rudderless.

I thought it was a nice message.

Say what you will of Chipman's management so far (there's far worse), I have no doubt that he loves the City and the team. I also have no doubt he's trying to build a winner. A lot of other teams have owners that you couldn't say that about.

We've got it pretty good.

I'm not saying he is a bad person and I'm grateful for his work in bringing the NHL back to Winnipeg.

I just feel he needs to step back from hockey ops.

It appears to me that making decisions like firing coaches or moving on from longtime players is too difficult for him.

then there is the other half like in Chevy’s case where the words were so important to a vocal group. Can’t please everyone.

”OMG! I can’t believe Chevy didn’t say he fired people he didn’t actually fire”!
It is true Chevy could not say they were fired but their contracts were not renewed, which means they were fired.
As for Chipman, he owns the team and did eh city a solid by bringing NHL hockey back but maybe this city is not made for top tier sports teams. I really when the Jets were making their one playoff run the issue was the cost of playoff tickets. We may be a minor league town when it comes to sports and the number of Jets who have wanted out prove it as doe Chipman's phony attempt to pacify the plebeians

Isn’t this all speculation? Do we have any proof that Chipman is heavily involved in on ice decisions?

Stick to the relevant last 4 years hockey only.
This organization is tone deaf.
It was obvious to so many that things were not going well, yet the insistence on status quo as a virtue is puzzling.
This letter is meh, show us you are serious don’t tell about it please do it.

This is such a lame meme already. Nobody was hung up on the words, that’s just your simple spin. It was actually what appeared to be some, a weak way of dealing with it, regardless of words. There was no OMG’s! , again silly hyperbole that intentionally misses the point.

What worries some is the hesitancy that this org seems to have to deal with issues in a forthright and direct way. Whether you see it or not, quite a few people found the way they dealt with the coaching staff to be weak messaging. While I have no doubt those coaches aren’t coming back, they did themselves no favours by not being a bit less wishy washy about it.

Chipman’s letter is irrelevant to me, he sends it out annually and it’s pretty much the same speech every year. I’ll await his actions, but he hasn’t impressed me with many so far, except for bringing the team back. He’s running out of good will on that though. Which I think is the point most people are trying to make.

This should have been done at press conference. Not that it would matter but the media should have been able ask questions.
You would think someone at TSNE would have said “you know boss, this probably isn’t going to go the way you think it is.”

From the mission/vision statement:

0 for 3 I would say. In fact, 0 for 4 if you include the word TEAM. All we have is a disjointed collection of individuals.
It seriously says Do The Right Thing? Wow. These guys really do think we’re dumb.

So if the Jets don’t sign Stastny are we looking for a press conference saying Stastny got fired? Or just like the coaches he worked his full contract as agreed upon and he is just going to get a new contract from someone else?

Damn, I wish we would have got a press conference with Chevy going full Vince McMahon “Brossoit! YOU’RE FIIIIIIRED!!!!!!”

No OMG’s just post after post after post after post and here’s another one.

Whether you see it or not those coaches had a real exit interview and the press conference is theater, a nothing burger you are going on and on about maybe no OMGs from you but you sure are trying your best to make something out of nothing.

When did we start taking anything from a Chevy presser? The King of word salad is suddenly saying something and not surprisingly it fits into a conspiracy theory.

I just find it funny that Chevy didn't say what people wanted to hear so some are up in arms. Chipman pretty much says what people wanted to hear, organization didn't meet expectations are very disappointed and will fix issues to get back to a championship caliber team and now it's empty platitudes.

Ultimately both will be judged on what moves the team makes this summer and how it performs next year.

Some people don't get it. EVERYONE who covers the game from the media all say the same thing. Paraphrasing....Chevy was whishy - washy when it comes to removing his coaches ( remember: It was Chevy who made sure everyone knew he didn't fire anyone when asked. I guess this allows Chevy to sleep better. Hey, I'm not a bad person because I didn't fire anyone, I just didn't re-hire them... :whatever: ) AND honestly the bigger issue is Chevy / Chipman come off looking like laughing stocks by suggesting that the coaches they didn't renew could re-apply for their jobs. As if... first off they never would and secondly they would never get their jobs back. Sorry, but the way TNSE handled this makes everyone think they are a joke. The Jets are the NHL laugh track for the week.

I've posted this somewhere else that time has erased. This, from Murat's piece on May 1, seems pretty conclusive to me, likely as close we're gonna get:

What Cheveldayoff has not been able to do is stop the cultural issues that Stastny articulated so well from forming.

Paul Maurice resigned, claiming he was unable to get more out of the team. Lowry was unable to change the team’s course. Issues of accountability persist, with playing time being heaped upon players who used to drive results. Meanwhile, Mark Chipman has been described to me as “extremely hands-on” and “very close to the team,” which makes a person wonder if a little more clarity of roles would be a better decision.

Its best I find with Chevy is not bother even listening to him. It's not worth my time. Let's face it his basically a bullshite artist. Look at what they do.

For example dithering Chevy took until Buff decided they had enough of Kane. Chevy did nothing. We could have a lot bigger haul after his 40 goal season.

Trouba wanted out. Chevy waited and waited until the last moment. Again should have been moved earlier for more value.

We know now there have been lockerroom issues for a while now. Chevy's did nothing.

I chuckle at the 55 has to be traded. How long will that take 2 3 years?

Do we have proof he isn’t?
I have never seen any proof that Chipman is behind decisions that have made the Jets a weaker team on the ice (Jerry Jones would be an example of an owner who publicly plays GM)....... The only part that he can take direct blame for would be if the Jets were not a cap team due to the internal budget setout by ownership....Over the last few seasons spending money has not been an issue with this organization, but in the near future we may see a belt tightening, and it will be fun to watch people on the forum complain about cheap ownership being the reason we can't compete.;)

We need to realize that every owner is involved in team operations (it's their Fn team lol)..... All I said was in reply to a post that Chipman needs to step back from the teams hockey OPs. Why? How do we know he is overstepping his bounds and is doing it more then other team owners. Does he tell Chevy who to sign and for how long? Does he tell the coach what players to play on what lines and how many minutes? Does he tell the team trainers how to treat injuries? Does he tell the equipment guys how to sharpen skates?

I hope you can see my sarcasm as I'm having a bit of fun
