Merry Christmas, have some reindeer poop

The Kings tonight in gif form:

You nailed it.

I went to bed with 5 minutes left in regulation. I should have known that in the last few minutes of the game, Calgary has our number. It's hard not to admire their compete level. They battle to the buzzer. My hat is off to them.

Speaking of hats, that's a hat trick for Tarasenko last week and a hat trick for Gaudreau this week. Santa, could we have a top-4 defenseman for Christmas?

Just when the team shows signs of life they go back to pissing it all away.

Thank goodness for this break. I'm burnt out, can't imagine what the players feel like, haha.

At least we get the Sharks on Saturday. Those guys have no reason to play us hard.

And I'll be at that game which means it can either go really well like the past few games in MInnesota, or really, really badly like last year's Stadium Series game... Hopefully this game lights a fire under them and they come out flying on Saturday.

Clifford and the team in general disappoint me. How can you let that hit on Kopitar go unchallenged? Sure McNabb threw a big hit of his own but Clifford should know his role.

All I have to say is Carter was hot garbage. Couldn't keep the puck on his stick, missing open nets, than the lazy play in OT. Guy was killing any pressure that line could muster.

In 5 of the first 6 home games of the year that Quick played, he had a .976sv%. In the other 23 games he's played, it's a .906sv%. At .886%, and the Kings are 4-5-2 in the games he's started, in the last month.

It's like the playoffs last year. Quick wasn't great, with a .911sv%. He came up with the saves when he needed to, but the Kings had to outscore the other team most nights. They weren't shutting the other team down. Of course right now, unlike in the playoffs, the Kings don't have 4 guys scoring at or near a point per game.

way to start your christmas vacation early LA.
The D sucked on the 2nd and 3rd goals. Both gio and Johhny should have been put on their *****. Let them come right in.
Maybe we have a prospect that Hextall over values that we can package with a pick for Coburn.

I hope Sutter is putting them through an old fashioned, Herb Brooks-style, skate till you puke mandatory workout this morning

yup i hope that if they won they would have had the day off, but if the lose they get bag skated.
Next Monday hopefully the team responds by pounding the hell out of calgary

Hell, if I was Sutter I'd be putting them through practice on Christmas eve and if they're not careful, Christmas day, after a loss like that.

It seems $ alone doesn't always motivate players to do their best and sometimes they need a little extra incentive. If there was a sign in the locker room "If we lose this game - bag skate Christmas morning. Bring your stocking." or make them watch tape during the break over and over and over again.

Yeah I noticed that too. Every time he touched the puck he was making lazy plays with it, and he put the cherry on top by escorting Gioridano from the bluleine to the victory celebration.

#LAKings are now off for the holiday break. Next practice will be game-day morning skate on Saturday, 10:00 AM, @ToyotaSportsCtr

Its all my fault...

I was watching intently until the last 5 minutes of the 3rd period when I dozed off and took the Kings mojo away. Woke up 10 min later at the start of OT.

Very frustrating game. I liken last night's game to the game in Detroit last year where the puck clearly hit the netting behind Quick and bounced in for a "goal".

I'll shoulder the blame too. My baby monitor died with 3 min left in the third and I figured if I was going upstairs and waking up my wife to plug it in I may as well go to bed.
While brushing my teeth my phone blew up and I knew....FUKC!

I guess we can't expect the team to take regular season games seriously when the coaching staff doesn't.

Eventually this will bite them in the ass and we'll miss the playoffs.

Absolutely no excuses. I expect all hell to break loose. You can't let that happen to your best forward.

Ugly loss.

Not much more to say, the Kings have had too many of these type of losses this season.

The PK and Defense, is going to cost the Kings a playoff spot, or a first round exit, if it continues being this poor.

Who ever thought we would be saying a Sutter/Lombardi team would be bad defensively ?

Also, unfortunately, we're still in a playoff spot, despite our best efforts

I like this team and I still think their play is trending up--the brain farts can be fixed as they were in 2013--but we still desperately need to shore up the D. We all know DL will be doing his homework between now and the trade deadline.

Who does Columbus have this year? Hmmmm... Any suggestions? ;)

The pieces are there to be dealt to fix it. Is the gambler going to hold them or fold them? I mean any combination of prospects not named Forbort, Zykov or Shore + any combination of King, Clifford or Nolan plus picks should work. Or am I being optimistic?

Scuttlebutt had some Canadian teams and Eastern teams asking about King , Clifford and Nolan due to their size, but I 'm not sure that would net the D DL is looking for, because it's a seller's market and some of the ones out there havea high price tag, like Sekera, the Canes want a young player or prospect and 1st rounder, Yandle's $ is also high. And with the demand out there, some GM in the playoff hunt will overpay.
I believe DL wants to upgrade at D, it's just a matter of if he's willing to give up a high end prospect to get there. I don't think he'll give up a 1st rounder, unless he has an extra 2nd rounder high up that he could offer.

Losing Scuderi then Mitchell in back to back years and then loosing voynov to being an idiot hurt.

MItchell is a perfect fit for FLA, just the leader that team needs with some many young players, esp the mentoring of Eckblad, right down to him living with WM. I've been watching the Panthers and WM is really a good part of the reason they're so consistant this year. Good signing for them.

Scuderi has fallen off a cliff so he's not missed. Mitchell hurts a little more, but a lot of problems stem from Voynov being a ****ing idiot and at the very least putting himself in a dangerous situation.

am I really the only person that thinks Quick should have saved 2 of those goals last night?

really?

Just stand the %&k up with his stick blade on the ice in OT and he makes the save...? The shooter had NOTHING to shoot at (as the puck then dribbled beneath quicks paddle for an easy tap in)
