Outside of it being largely beer and food vendor free, yesterdays event was perfect. I wish the full parade was on the large screens on the mall in its entirety (maybe it was?) as a courtesy of rally spot campers but whatever. But the screens were well positioned and they had enough to spread out the crowd perfectly.

I saw a camera and reporter with the mic that said CTV so I let her interview me. At the end, I asked for the network name, thinking it was Canadian TV something. Nope, it was a local community college. I have to see if I can figure out which one, maybe St Copius of Northern...

One of our crew spent 1.5hrs in line at the concession stand by the carousel for 4 waters. Meanwhile, I found a guy selling PBRs off Jefferson St for $2. Bought 6 and they were processed before water boy came back. haha We're jerks.

The big screens had the parade, but would cut away to the Caps logo at odd times. It encouraged us to move and we snuck into the VIP area.

Also, what was up with the playlist? Cranberries and the melancholy REM song were ODD choices. No Fugazi?

Yeah, that's right. I let him

I stumbled onto the perfect spot. The beauty of that spot for me, was that I had an extra 100 eyes on my kid as I fumbled about with my phone trying to make videos of Ovi hoisting the cup. If he jetted in the other direction, I know someone with kids would have run down and grabbed him for me. The beauty of being surrounded by fellow minded folks. If you were on the early side of the parade, you should be in the picture I posted.

Yup. I'm the tall guy with the camera right below the first N in "National". It really was a great spot. Here's a shot I got of Ovi and the cup:

@The Dude Nice shot, better than anything I got - thanks for sharing.

Back to Back works for me. Next year, we wade in that cesspool. And yes my son did hit his head on that lone sign.

I forgot to mention, in case you haven't seen him, he (and I think you) are in a shot in the Post's special section on the parade.

This is the new signature move by Oshie

When he scores a goal, put down the stick, put your Jersey over the head and take the water bottle of the opponent goalie and drink

Thanks for letting me know! I have a copy saved for me, but not yet in my possession.

I like Vrana on the back of the bus. Cool kids are in the back

I was there too, with wife and kids. About 40 feet back from the stage. We were flying the blue American flag with the red center horizontal stripe. Guarantee you see us if you watch the replay.

Wow. Just wow.

Funny story out of this: we happened to look up at the big screen at all the people on the bus. We saw Jose Andres, owner of a bunch of those restaurants along 7th street, including Oyamel, where we go before games.

My wife and I went on the California road trip after the Stadium Series game in Annapolis. Made it a point to go to Jose Andres' Bazaar at SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills. Then met him after we were leaving, out front of his restaurant, while still in our Caps gear after the Kings game.

Of course, we went to Oyamel after the parade. Shook hands with Jose again after he showed up with some of his VIP's, and told him we met him in Beverly Hills - "Oh yea, THAT'S RIGHT!".

Now if you'll excuse me, we forgot to put sunblock on, and I'm tending to this redness with copious amounts of aloe and lidocaine. And COMPLETELY WORTH IT.
