Speculation: #Melnkyout...The time is NOW!

Will you boycott the Sens over the next 6-8 weeks to put added pressure on Melnyk?

Ah so the Dilawri's then...lol

Nope. The Mierens raised a lot of eyebrows when they sold virtually all their businesses, but not thick enough without being part of a group .

Dilawris run tight profit margins.

Bagnall's assumptions are questionable to say the least.

1) His assurance that the NHL backs Melnyk.
2) His confidence that the NCC or the City will have anything to do with a Melnyk project going forward.
3) His confidence that Melnyk will continue to operate the franchise in Kanata while the boycott slashes his revenue.

The City, NCC, Devcore and the NHL can all afford to play the long game to get rid of Eugene.

How many years can Eugene hold on in Kanata?

1. The NHL will 100 percent back him. He is the NHL in Ottawa, saying they won't is false and there is zero reason to pretend otherwise,I have no idea why some posters act like the NHL(EM) is on 'their side' and not his.
2. Ya I doubt that bridge isn't burnt.
3. With that TV contract and revenue sharing I doubt EM is being damaged all that much, it just means the buget will be slashed and players will be gone.

The City and the NCC will build appartments and Condo's instead, they are not in a game to steal away a team, and Devcore will not be gifted a team ever, the NHL will not allow a hostile takeover.

If EM wont sell all bets are off as to what happens next,

This is the #MelnykOut thread, shouldn't the #ILoveEugene thread be where we spread the love??

Lets not forget, that it was staffers from the Minister in charge of the NCC that reached out to the Senators Owner, in the summer of 2014, to get him involved in the re-development process for Lebreton Flats.

That is how the forced marriage between The Senators and Trinity began.

Things have changed in the last 4 years. At the time that the NCC and city reached out to the Senators, Cyril Leeder was driving the bus on this project, and he was spearheading the bid.

Leeder was someone with an incredible reputation among the Ottawa business and government community, and while he can certainly be criticized for some of the stale marketing and sales tactics the Senators used, he was the reason the Senators and Lebreton was seen as promising.

To navigate a project that involves federal government, local government, and corporate interests, you need someone who's well liked, who can act as a bridge between parties, who can resolve tensions, etc. Leeder was someone who could handle all the red tape and egos involved.

Melnyk is the opposite, as has been proven time and time again.

If Melnyk does want to salvage this? Bring Leeder back and put him in charge of this development from the Sens perspective. Fat chance of that happening though.

Plus Melnyk may have let go of Leeder because he felt he dropped the ball on Lebreton, when he was recovering from the liver transplant.

Sure. And Tom Anselmi came and and dropped the ball again. Then Melnyk had to take over, and he was so successful, that the NCC called him out at a press conference and there's no downtown arena in sight.

Cyril Leeder continues to have a fantastic reputation in this city. Eugene Melnyk does not.

Melnyk won the Lebreton bid like a year after his liver transplant.

He fired Leeder because he liked Anselmi’s history with building arenas.

Perhaps you should re-read this article, as it appears that Melnyk let Leeder go, after his health improved, and was not satisfied with the terms that Leeder had negotiated, on his behalf, with Trinity/Ruddy ..... and eventually brought in Anselmi.

"First, recall the timing. The Ottawa Senators and Trinity prepared their bid when Melnyk was recovering from his May 2015 liver transplant. It wasn’t until March 2016 that Melnyk declared he had “a clean bill of health.” By then, the NCC had nearly finished the evaluation of the bids. In April that year, it ruled in favour of RendezVous LeBreton, thereby knocking out its only rival, Canadensis — a Montreal-heavy team led by Devcore and Canderel.
During this period, the lion’s share of the work on the Senators’ portion of the bid was handled by president Cyril Leeder (who Melnyk pushed out in early 2017) and Geoff Publow, the team’s long-serving vice-president of strategic development. (Leeder and Publow did not return calls.)

Sources say that when Melnyk’s health improved, he began pushing for better terms within the RendezVous LeBreton partnership."

Bagnall: What could be the issues between Melnyk and Ruddy?

And where is Anselmi?

Oh ya, he couldn't handle the craziness.

I wonder who he was talking about...

You know you lost all credibility a long time ago. I had heard rumours of Thomlinson last January but nothing happened. Just name this “mythical family” and please don’t pull the NDA bull because it’s not believable.
How so?? Because EK got traded. Re read everything about EK, I said and spoke on his no wanting to get traded. Which he is and was still preaching, I can not control what the club had in mind. SO, boo hoo, you misunderstood. Besides, you really think I give a rats a$$ about an internet forum that is made up of mostly angry, bitter and very entitled people??

Tough luck.

He could have picked whoever he wanted to take care of it, but as usual, it’s everyone’s fault except for Eugene’s.

What was it he said again, “Losers blame others” or something?

Like say both Stone and Duchene refuse to sign and then come out and say it's because of Melnyk.

Will never happen.

Would be career suicide for a hockey player, to publicly put an owner on blast. If you're an elite athlete you may bounce back, but many owners would shy away from giving you a contract if they feel you will be a headache to deal with.

You through it, look like that person who bashes his prior job during an interview. It looks bad on you, not Melnyk.

I don't think fans will ever know how bad things are behind closed doors, as no player will want to risk their careers and reputations openly saying anything who is terribly thin skinned and lawsuit happy.
