Too close to call. This might be the most level WJC field ever.
Given the history of the tournament it isn't saying much but you could be right. Not that long ago the Czechs and Finns were awful (both seemingly went in the tank at around the same time Sweden stopped being terrible) and the likely relegation candidates were losing games 15-1. Slovakia and Switzerland each taking a turn making a run to the SF helped a bit in masking how thin things really were. I think over the past 2 or 3 years things have trended towards a more competitive tournament. Finland won last year and in general seem to have started to produce more than just goalies again and the Czechs have gone from being awful to at least erratic and now have a group of players coming through who have done nothing but win medals at U18 tournaments. By the sounds of things Germany and Denmark have two of the stronger 'yoyo team' lineups in recent times as well.
I've never been someone who considers the tournament the highlight of the year, I have generally been at best lukewarm about it (and found the coverage of it almost insufferable), but I think it could grab my interest this year.
Holy crap, you cannot be serious.Time for a holy crap, you cannot be serious, you're out of your mind, that would not happen if we played this tournament a million times prediction.
*Note: not what I actually think will happen of course

I like Denmark, think they're underrated, they might be able to pull off a win somewhere and sneak into the QF, but obviously this prediction is just over the top.
As for Russia being relegated, before Russia fans come here saying I know nothing about the team, it isn't as much me picking on Russia, it's just I think it'd be awesome to see a big 6 nation get relegated(one that isn't Canada), and I think someone from pool B has the best chance(which is still not good but best chance probably ever) at that if Denmark and Switzerland can steal their QF spot, and Slovakia loses to Germany and then plays out of their minds to avoid relegation. Just picked Russia really, could have been any of the 3 there.

...and there it is. A Russian takes offense to the random choosing of Russia as a relegation team in an exercise designed only to illustrate what it would take for an elite team to get relegated. There's a higher chance Canada will continue their medal drought than Russia relegated...
Seriously ridiculous post...Russia won the Super Series and just defeated Canada in a friendly. We got your number guys..

is it that bad? With the cuts they made, I can't see the Czechs being a medal threat at all.
is it that bad?
Yup, and then Union State of Russia and Belarus will be transformed into country, which would mean Russia will stay in Top Division for next year.As for Russia being relegated, before Russia fans come here saying I know nothing about the team, it isn't as much me picking on Russia, it's just I think it'd be awesome to see a big 6 nation get relegated(one that isn't Canada), and I think someone from pool B has the best chance(which is still not good but best chance probably ever) at that if Denmark and Switzerland can steal their QF spot, and Slovakia loses to Germany and then plays out of their minds to avoid relegation.
