Post-Game Talk: McMann vs McBoys, Leafs win 6-3

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Player a great 1st and 2nd, 3rd was bad, but overall a nice win against a top team, especially with so many good players out (Marner, Bert, Jarnkrok, Boosh and Brodie). Edmonton controlled possession, but they do that to everyone. Edmundson, McMann and Holmberg were all terrific, and I thought Nylander, Kampf, Rielly, McCabe, JT, Sammy, Lilly and Domi all played well too. Very quiet night from Matthews (yeah, 2 points, but he wasn’t driving the play).

Hopefully Sammy is OK! Otherwise happy with the game, despite the 3rd.

Great first and second, but you could see they came out and weren't playing like they were in the first 2 periods. They need to not take the foot of the gas,

A bit too close for comfort at the end but then again, I wasn't expecting such a huge lead going into the 3rd period with a depleted lineup so the boys deserve credit for showing up tonight.

Sammy's injury put a damper on what was otherwise a very positive result. Hopefully he will be back before the playoffs. It's time for Woll to pick up the slack.

Any one notice how we the Leafs can scrum, face wash, and rough around and start fights without a Leaf ONLY in the penalty box? Like weve seen too many times before?

Yeah... Me too. Since we played with snarl since day one with a Real man as a GM not softie Dubas and his soy brand we don't get bullied around.

Dominant 1st and 2nd. Great supporting cast step ups.
34 and 88 learning how to look for other support players might be the best gift of Marners injury.
DOMI got slashed, refs knew it too, so the guy just bombs the face of the oiler. dont jnow his name - Janmark?

DOMI jr needs to be a LEAF

Papi with a GOAL

Lets tighten up a bit with the third, but hey Drai and Mcjesus aint a joke
GLG

This is the first Leaf team after the rebuild that I feel we can match the physicality of any opposing team.

Edmundson will be huge the longer we play in the playoffs. I can already see him punishing a top offensive player on the other team shift in and shift out and by like Game 3 or 4, that player will have no legs left.

Treliving has created the toughest Leafs team in decades in literally just 1 year
I didn't watch the game and I know there were a few penalties, but Keefe has to try and find a few more minutes of ice time for Reaves.

My hope is that Keefes memory isn't so short that he doesn't revert to employing a quicker but softer lineup come playoffs.

The game always goes into the mud. Always. Players who can drive the net and prevent the opposition from driving to the net will be critical.

Perhaps Reaves is still banged up a bit, this would make most sense. It's Keefes team, he knows it best. A few weeks away though and the team employs a mob mentality or they won't succeed.

Unfortunately, that's what it looked like to me too. Damn, he was playing so well.
Typical. We finally have a team that is built a little different, and we are gonna be Woll-Jonesing out in the first round again. Good times.

Please be nothing more than a minor strain... ffs

You can say that again :sarcasm:

The 3rd was expected and I think the missed call and then Oilers got their 2nd PP right after made it a bit tighter than it looked.
Only two other players can enter the zone like McDavid and we won't be playing them unless we are in the Finals. So I am not too worry about it for now. Also missing Calle and MM are huge due to both of them being our best Defensive Wingers. Imagine we have those two playing instead of Gregor and Robbie.

I like where we're going these days, but that PK needs to become formidable again, especially in situations where the game is on or starting to be on the line. Marner back should help a little, but even with him back, they need to tighten up.

Well earned. It's nice having a true dickhead back there again.
