I don't think we can afford the package they would be asking for in terms of Carter, at this point.

It would solve one issue, but would probably open up a hole in young emerging talent, ready to take over at the NHL level.

Carter cost LA, Jack Johnson and a 1st. They got their cup.

Long-term deals, with a lower cap coming reduces the value of the player, though I don't think it is a huge drop.

Bozak, Mac A, Franson, Scrivens and 2nd for Bernier and Carter.

Problem is, we got too many guys that are Okay, but not good enough for their positions on any playoff teams. Like MacArthur and Bozak. Kulemin isn't a top 6 guy, but at least he can play 3rd line. Brown is barely an NHLer. Reimer is maybe a backup, Scrivens probably not. So bring another young goalie with an upside, let's see what we got. Problem is- short season, easy to fool people.

How do you figure? Was he barely an NHLer on Anaheim's fourth line when they won the Stanley Cup?

I think Lindback is a good comparison. He got two 2nd's and a 3rd. Bernier is worth a little more I think, so 2nd + Good Prospect or a 16-30 1st Round Pick.

Bernier is a better option than Lu at this point... Nonis likes him from those world championship days.

for the right price it would be a good move IMO

i could see them wanting a decent prospect and a 2nd rounder OR a backup goalie plus a pick.

Damigo + 2nd for Bernier

OR

Scrivens + 4th for Bernier

By far, the worst excuse in all of HF Boards. And that's saying something...

Like scoring is any easier on a weaker team or any one player is the direct result of where a team finishes.

Give your head a shake.

Absolutely, if anything I'd think it would be more difficult to put up points on a weak team. Afterall it's not like a weak team keeps coming at you all game and are drawing penalties because other teams can't keep up..

Bernier isn't worth much in a trade. If we're sending MacArthur and Marlies their way I'd want more than just an unproven young backup -- we've got at least one of those already.

D'Amigo is a much more important piece going forward than Scrivens.

Also don't want to trade our second round pick. I'd consider it, though.

If it's Bernier + another player, I wonder if Carlyle has dropped Penner's name in Nonis' ear? Not much of a physical player, but as a big bodied third line checker he could be decent .. And has equal offensive abilities as MacA

Do not want!

I do think that Carter could be obtained from them, but I'm not willing to pay much, and I see no reason for them to trade him.

They have some good centers and I wouldn't mind trying to pry loose one of them and Bernier for some of our surplus players.

I'm curious. What role do you project D'Amigo to develop into?

Probably a fourth line PK specialist.

His defensive game is phenomenal. He plays with heart. He's fast. He has some offensive upside. He's the type of player you want on your team.

He could definitely play a third line role if they want a shutdown line.

Who is more valuable? Reimer or D'Amigo?

lol @ all of you saying Bernier isnt worth much.

It's not all about stats. This kid has the talent to be a top 10 goalie in the NHL.

Id give Kadri + 2nd up for him easily.

Difference between Reimer and Bernier.

Reimer- terrible glove hand, worst recovery starting goaltender in the league. Terrible positioning.

Bernier- has all the talent in the world and has not been given a chance.

The choice is obvious, the question is how much we give up. If Bozak is the best peice we're giving up, I don't think you hesitate.

This exactly. Reimer doesnt have the talent to be a #1 in the NHL. Bernier does.
