Would be nice. Not sure he plays though. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Oilers go 11/7 against San Jose and sit both McDavid and Drai.

Although the division and conference are still hypothetically up for grabs so... maybe they'll play the big guns.
I think they both play. The conference is potentially up for grabs and the playoffs don't start for us until Monday or Tuesday.

You'd have to tie McDavid (or Draisaitl and the rest) to a chair to get them to sit out.

Edit: Because I was looking at things and doing Math. If McDavid can get 2 or more points, he will surpass his pace from the 20/21 56 game season, that would have been just shy of 154 over 82.

Which is to say, he's f***ing amazing.

You just know that opposing PP players must be shitting their pants a bit every time that there is a botched pass or bad handle of the puck on the PP.
I think that's part of the reason having him there too. Causes the PP to be thinking about him when they should be focusing on scoring.

Making the PP think for that extra second can pay dividends to your PK.

Lots of talk during the 80's about the Oilers being all offense and no defense. But it was actually not true for much of that decade. Specifically on the pk from 84-85 through 88-89 they were 5th on the pk at 80.1% with Montreal at 81.6% being tops. But as is the case with the pk this year they were also very dangerous and they led the whole league in net pp% with 86.5%. Gretzky, like McDavid terrified defensemen on the pk so they would often give up the point to avoid getting beat. We will soon see this with McDavid as well because if you get caught flat footed or moving forward when he gets possession you are in deep trouble.

Priceless. Studied Matthews shot. That's a hoot.

Gotta Toronto in somehow.

Not Draisaitl or Brett Hull or Ovechkin or Gretzky or ...
I hear what you're saying, but it makes sense. He's the guy that was most recently successful at scoring, and did alot of it with his shot.

It's also likely he looked at other guys as well

The article quotes McDavid talking about how he studied Matthews so I wouldn't read too much into that being an example of media bias towards Matthews.

Talked about studying the release in ways to help fool goalies and to get pucks through screens so he didn't have to lean on deking out goalies in order to score.

He also mentions Ovie, Pastrnak, and Leo.

With his play in a trajectory upward I thought we couldn’t let him slip to page 3 lol
Glad to see the leadership yesterday willing to defend Drai. Don’t see that among the Toronto top 4

I could see the Matthews notation and really don't have a problem with it.. He's said it before, and Matthews, as much as we all can't stand him or the Laffers, is arguably the most natural scorer in the league the last few years.
