I was looking at the NHL's all time point leaders. If Mcdavid hits 1000 points next year or early the season after. He'll be the 100th player to score 1000 points.

There's 95 former players with 1000 points. Pavelski, Giroux, Kessel and Tavares are within 4 to 29 points away.

Wheeler is 79 points away and Mcdavid is 157 away but I'd put money on Mcdavid passing Wheeler to get their first.

I have a feeling that McDavid isn't all that bothered by scoring more goals given his unselfish play on the EN goal.

No doubt RNH was going to get the puck during that sequence though haha.

I've seen people accuse McDavid of trying to pad his goal stats with empty netters (btw, I wouldn't care if he was), but obviously they weren't watching last night.

Ovi would have shot that....

I think Mcdavid's goal going into the season was to score 60, now that he hit it he's playing his more natural, pass first style. I still think he needs to score1-2 more to secure the Rocket. I can see Pasta getting 6-7 goals in his last 4 games.

That would be unfortunate because the team is better when McDavid is looking for his own shot. I don't think that's the case though, I think he's just going through a bit of a rough stretch (relative obviously). Both him and Draisaitl were pretty pedestrian yesterday.

Yeah that's how I saw it. Plus the ice was very bad yesterday

Sharks fan coming in piece, it's crazy how good McDavid actually is. With this pace he is going to hit 1000 total points at the age of 27, that's just crazy. I really hope at the end of his career he can at least challenge Gretzky's record or come at #2 place in total points. Even though offense has risen in this era of hockey, it's still crazy what McDavid is doing.

He would never challenge 99's record unless the league gave out PP's like Candy like they did post 2005 lockout. Teams were getting like 400. Oiler have like 276 this year lol

He won't break Gretzky's record, but being the 2nd player to ever get 2000 points would be an incredible feat.

As long as he wins the Rocket he can be as unselfish as he wants to be. Pasternak has been on a role lately while McDavid has basically decided to stop shooting since hitting 60. If he some how loses it that would def be on him but we will see. lol

Looks like you , me and a few others are watching Pastranak like a hawk lately. lol...Pasta scoring in OT today just ticked me off. You're right though, it's all on McDavid.
Aside from the goal scoring, I've noticed a lot of pucks rolling off his stick lately. He hasn't been sharp as his usual self. I think a good dose of Drai on his line will get him back up to speed. Move non-passer Hyman to another line..lol

2000 points is totally doable for McDavid if he stays healthy, he is one of those player that could play for bottom feeder team score like 100 points without blinking an eye.

Gretzky's record is not in danger. If McDavid played 15 more years he would have to average about 135 points per season. What Gretzky did was truly unbelievable. That said, as a STH during the Gretzky years I never thought I would see another player in an Oiler Jersey that would be able to come anywhere close to Gretzky. I

In terms of WOW moments McDavid is as exciting as any player I have ever watched including Gretzky. And to really appreciate what he can do you need to see him live and up close. TV cameras can't really capture the impact of his speed or how fast his hands are. It is quite remarkable.

It’s good pasta is pushing hard. He can rest in the playoffs.
