I think it has to do with us getting force fed Matthews BS by the media 24/7. He’s the headline all of the time so it makes sense he comes up in conversation a lot.

I don’t hate Matthews but he’s one of the most overrated players currently in the NHL.

Oh and he uses a purse.
I totally understand. And the only thing the NHLPA players think he is good at is buying shoes. I get it. Just tired of hearing him brought up in every thread with no reason or context as to why.

I do it because maybe just maybe I’ll piss off a lurking turd leaf fan.

Feel free to ignore it when I post my updates. :naughty:

Hoping McDavid gets 75 goals ... a couple muti-goal nights, and it could happen.

Why 75? I like the number ... and, as best I can tell, no one has done it in 30 years.

Mcdavid is clearly advancing the understanding of what a power forward can achieve. However his point totals should have some perspective applied. The game is different with different rules. Gretzky would have had alot more points with 4-4 and 3-3 if they existed. Same goes for the bruins season, which really means that they should equalize the points per game. They have already invalidated all previous records with the changes they have made.

He hasn't been at his best lately and is likely playing dinged up. I hope that he's back healthy by the playoffs.

Given his reaction on initially missing his 60th, I think he might have wanted his 60th before Auston and now that he did it he's picking his spots and yeah, pacing himself a bit more.

I think he’s more just pacing himself rather than going all out
I don't. His handling of the puck hasn't been as crisp and he hasn't been challenging defenses as much. On the bright side Draisiatl is looking like he's getting healthy at just the right time.

This. Also, I seriously think he's more concerned with getting Drai to 50 than himself extra goals. Rishaug pod was talking about how McD is likely trying to help his buddies hit milestones [ie. Nuge 100 pt, Drai 50, Kane 300] before his own. At least get 61 dammit!

I don't really buy this. I would think/hope the team is prioritizing home ice or a division title over getting guys milestones. The simplest explanation is just that McDavid has been off the last few games. I mentioned it in another thread, but he's had pucks roll off his stick in shooting spots a number of times, I think it's just one of those stretches.

This just goes to show how unreal McDavid is. A couple off games for whatever reason and people just assume he’s injured

It's funny because on an off night he still put up 3.

I didn't watch most of the Seattle game, but remember hearing the same thing that he was off that game and then Gregor said how many guys can have an off night and still put up 3 points. There are so many around the league that on a good night can't even get 3 lol.

15 goals in 7 games? I think that number just might be safe for no one getting there this year. I think 70 might even be safe this year, but he's getting to the point where he needs multiple goal games multiple times. He could do it, but it's getting to be a tougher ask with each game that goes by and he is held scoreless. Seems to be on an assist run right now.

That was posted last thursday.

I posted this when it would have taken 1.6 goals per game to get there (or something like that). That was seemingly doable. You should have waited until there was 1 game left in the regular season, then you could have wrote: "15 goals in 1 game ... impossible!"

It's all about context.

Three "off games" where he scores 0g, 5a, -2, and 5 shots, with the team is 2-0-1, lol. Yes, by his metrics those are 3 not-great games, but its still a 136 point pace for the season. hahaha. Just ridiculous.
