McDavid v. Makar

Not sure if this thread has already been made but I'm interested in fielding opinions.

Who would you rather build around? Take their contracts into consideration as well. McDavid (4y x 12.5 AAV) v. Makar (5y x 9AAV).

Also a much better golfer.

Picked Makar for the savings and extra year. That 3.5 mil can turn a min guy into a 4.2 mil guy.

Makar plus a 2nd liner is probably slightly better and you spread out your risk, though McD seems pretty durable.

The problem is eventually the gap closes so if you plan to keep them afterward than McD is the better choice.

Pretty sure if Mcdavid had a cup and Conn Smythe it would be used in his favour so why not Makar.

You don’t have to be a homer to perfer one player over another. I’m sure I’m not the only person who would take Makar over Mcdavid. Gretzky is the greatest player to ever play the game but there are a lot of people who would take Lemieux or Orr over him.

I'm taking makar. I get mcdavid is a dynamo offensively. But any of his teams whether that's junior or the nhl have won a championship. And maybe that's not a coincidence

I'm guessing you're taking Kris Draper over Eric Lindros since Lindros couldn't seal the deal.

Because the Cup is a team trophy and Conn Smythe you only win if your team wins the Cup. *



*with a few notable exceptions but your team still has to make the Finals.

Again were comparing players that are In the same tier. Throwing Justin Williams and players of that mold isn't an argument. When makar just won the norris and smythe in the same season and likely has many more norrises to come

Mcdavid didn't go to college
