As usual, the voice of reason.
In a hard cap reality world, no way McD can come to NYR period

If Leo Drai gives a reasonable extension before, something around
Shesty +
for
Drai +
is theoretically doable.

Would be HUGE gamble that Garand matures quickly enuf, but depending on the +s, possibly worth it.

Again McD who will command max $ is not a $$$ fit = non starter

This thread is overdue to die a natural death

That isn't fair to Edmonton, unless the + to Draisaitl are three cap dumps.

We can quibble and we may or may not come to an agreement, but the pt remains it can work as a base. Structurally. One stud in a valued premier position for another.
Getting the +s to a consensus is another story. Difficult, but I would not say impossible.

1 you have no clue about hockey if you believe this . If you don't then you are trying to cause a pissing match . How did the NYR draft the 1st OA ?
2 You realize we didn't finish last but won the mclottery

3 The last part NYR wouldn't have a cup if the Oilers never gifted them 1/2 that team . Funny for such a great franchise why did Edmonton have to gift you all their talent they drafted in later rounds for your team to win ?

Weren't you guys throwing jerseys on the ice and wearing paper bags just a couple years ago?

Shesterkin is clearly great, but goalies have massive ups and downs, and very few have long careers of top level play. Trading the league's best player for a goalie, who may have an off year at any point, would be a huge mistake.
