Barzal + Beauvillier + every first rounder up to 2030. That's overpayment, but the Oilers would probably have to take that.

pretty sure Barzal would put up 80-90 points (maybe more) playing run and gun Oil hockey. Kid is 24, won NHL hardware had a plus point per game season as a 20 year old rookie and won many playoff games and rounds in his short NHL career. Not a bad starting point to a McJesus deal, ofcourse Isles would need to add more but just saying....

There’s no McDavid trade that EDM will be happy with but this package definitely ain’t it.

think about what other teams would offer for McDavid? The market for him would be insane. Think team gutted.

You're probably right, because a lot of GMs are idiots, but any GM who guts his team to acquire any single player is setting himself up for an eventual firing. McDavid is a great player, but he still needs a good team around him if he's going to have any chance of success.

This is modern day Gretzky that is, what, 25? He's this good now and years away from his prime.
He's currently 4th in the league in scoring, 13th in goals, and 9th in ES scoring. He's 2nd on his team in goals and point, and has only 11 points in his last 13 games.

That's not Gretzky.

And most high scoring players hit their prime in their low to mid 20's.

I completely agree. It’s a difficult situation and double edge sword.

New York could offer the Yankees Mets, giants, , amd the Knicks and the Oilers still laugh.....mcdavid is keeping hockey relevant during some dark time ls in oil Town.

What the hell do you have against the Oilers by trading them the New York Giants?

Do you have any idea how much the city of New York would have to retain on the Giants to make them not an incredibly toxic asset?

Gees, a McDavid trade would require trading assets that would make the new team require a rebuild; wouldn't be much of a change in situation for him in terms of winning now.
unless of course he goes to a team that guts its future to win this year.

Only 11 points in 13 games on a team with absolutely zero supporting cast aside from Draisaitl and RNH? Really? Yea, 125-130 points is something to scoff at. Only turned 25 and is doing this. He is modern Gretzky. Look at the guys ahead of him and the teams they are on. Oh, I notice one of them is his teammate. They literally have to carry the offense nightly. It's unheard of.

Oilers would for sure ask for one of the Isles top 4 d coming back, my guess they would want Dobson.

McDavid for Barzal, Dobson, Varlamov and a 1st.

kinda reminds me of the Lafontaine, Turgeon trade in the 90's Isles came out a winner along with Buffalo. Very rare to see this blockbuster anymore, and even rarer to see an even deal. Not sure teams can beat Barzal, Dobson, Varly and unprotected first. Unless magic beans are a higher commodity on the market...

Why does anyone think the Isles will beat out literally every other team in the NHL if McDavid somehow becomes available?

The Isles couldn’t even get Panarin to sign for free when there was only a handful of teams that could afford him lmao

Uncle Lou prefers 4th liners over quality assets like Toews so I’m not sure how you expect to outbid teams that are properly managed and have a plethora of attractive assets that the Oilers will prefer over one year of Barzal lol

Only way McDavid gets traded is if he asks for a trade and even then other teams would beat this offer.

IF that ever happens Edm will still lose the trade because you will never get anywhere near the McDavid value

The trade makes sense for both teams. Isles get a franchise superstar C that will sell seats and instantly transform their offense. And the Oilers become a much better team. Drai + Barzal is a great one two punch down the middle and Dobson would play with Nurse on their top pair. You still have 3 good seasons left from Varlamov.

How often was Gretzky losing scoring races and Hart trophies to his teammate?

Guys like Puljujarvi and Hyman are perfectly suitable top 6 wingers.

Hyman - McDavid - Puljujarvi
RNH - Draisaitl - Yamamoto

That's a perfectly fine top 6. Plus they have Nurse and Bouchard as solid D puck movers.

If McDavid were modern day Gretzky he'd be lapping the competition every year.
