Now compare Drai’s 5v5 points with McDavid vs without per 60. Per 60 being for an accurate comparison as your stats show he has over double the ice time without McDavid, so even equal numbers would mean less than half the production by ignoring TOI.

It doesn’t matter that Drai spends time without McDavid if he’s not producing. Show us the stats showing he’s a beast without, not just his ice time without.
Fair enough.

That might just be enough missed time for another player to win the art Ross this year. Then again, who knows with Mcdavid. I’ll be interested to see how Draisaitl does without him. Last time he put the team on his back
Lucky for him he has the build of a linebacker

I think this is good for Edmonton.

A competent team that is capable of challenging for the Cup can't just rely on one or two guys.

Time for the rest of them to get their shit together with a little adversity.
I agree. They will find a way to win without McDavid.

So that’s a minimum of 3 games and perhaps up to 6 if it’s truly 2 weeks.

Still think he wins the Art Ross if he plays 70-72 games.

Hopefully Drai and the Oilers help him out by getting some wins while he’s sidelined.

Better hope so or it would be dreadful to lose a ross at 27 don't you think?

I’d prefer he win it of course to keep a lid on you, but I don’t think there’s anything as dreadful as Crosby playing 77 games and finishing 3rd in the scoring race to two non-superstar players like Benn and Tavares.
Well that's see what happens this year. BTW Tavares is a two time hart finalist. Hardly a bum of a player

Didn’t call Tavares a bum, but I don’t make excuses for McDavid like you do for Crosby. Injury or not, missing 6 games or not, whether the league has way more top end talent now compared to a decade ago, I will call it the disappointment that it would be if McDavid plays the bulk of this season and doesn’t win it, particularly since he decimated everyone just 6-12 months ago.

Agreed if mcdavid doesn't win it with 75+ games it would be disappointing. I remember clearly the last night of the 2015 season. Crosby went into the final day tied for the lead I almost was gonna break my TV when he went scoreless. But that's hockey

If you look at 5v5 TOI together for the past 3 years you will see Drai has played 1100 mins with McDavid and 2400 without McDavid.

The do rack up points together on the PP but Drai has been a force 5v5 all on his own.

The vast majority comes from that PP tho

So he wouldn’t have played any of the OT period? Something he plays most of.

McDavids utilization is common knowledge and not some great myth
Again since you dont seem to be understanding. Even if he played half the rest of the game and half the overtime that would only add about 5 minutes of playing time. And he wouldn't have played that much, but if he did hat would still put him at less than 21:30 a game. Not exactly huge time for the best player in the league myth or not......

I remember the game, it was against Buffalo, worst team in the league. Crosby had 8 assists (!!) in two games against them this year. Pittsburgh won the game but Crosby went pointless, made no sense.

It's probably dead in the water for McDavid to reach 1000 points by the end of the season, but he's still winning the Art Ross if he plays 70 games

Who’s the face of the NHL if not McDavid?
I feel like I saw way more Crosby and Ovechkin in their prime than I see of McDavid. Maybe it’s different in Canada but I doubt many Americans know who McDavid is

Young Ovi was the best candidate of the three to be the face if his peak at or above Crosby’s level lasted longer bust Crosby also had the Canadian advantage

Ovi was super marketable though, very fun personality shown despite the language barrier in his early career

McDavid is the most talented but the league feels sorta faceless, I don’t really know how you market him as a person
