No thread because nothing is known, there is speculation from people that it’s a muscle tear.

Over utilization by a shitty coaching system
, you can’t put that much stress on your top guys
He is averaging 20:29 per game so far this year so wrong again zero. Im curious, before you post do you ever do even the most basic google search?

A 5 game sample size where he didn’t finish yesterdays game. You can tack on over another minute per game without the injury, so yes. He’s still being over utilized

He played up until the last 4 or 5 minutes. He would have had to play every second of the rest of the game to add less than a minute. So no. As usual you were talking without checking. He has not been overplayed this year. He sustained an injury. Its a fast and rough game. It happens. He is not close to the most ice time per game in the nhl.

This might be the blessing the oilers needed to get their shit together

If you look at 5v5 TOI together for the past 3 years you will see Drai has played 1100 mins with McDavid and 2400 without McDavid.

The do rack up points together on the PP but Drai has been a force 5v5 all on his own.

Now compare Drai’s 5v5 points with McDavid vs without per 60. Per 60 being for an accurate comparison as your stats show he has over double the ice time without McDavid, so even equal numbers would mean less than half the production by ignoring TOI.

It doesn’t matter that Drai spends time without McDavid if he’s not producing. Show us the stats showing he’s a beast without, not just his ice time without.

In a roundabout way this might be the kick in the pants the Oilers need to get everyone going this year instead of just waiting for Connor to do it all.

Very surprised there's not a thread on this already.

At the end of the Oil game yesterday, McDavid pulled up with an apparent injury and stayed on the bench through the last 4:20 of the 3rd as well as overtime (ended in a Jets win).

I didn't see the game, the only reason I know is because of random next day articles. Couldn't quickly find a video to show when it happened, Athletic thinks it's something muscular.

Anyone know anything? Woodcroft said there'd be an update today.

Also: at some point threads like this can turn into a "McDavid sucks" or "Edm sucks" or whatever, I'd ask ppl to not post those types of posts if possible -- personally am looking for the most current news and / or further context about this, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who is. Mods feel free to lock the thread if things get too far out of hand.

Thx!

EDIT: found a video of Connor's last shift in the game, at 0:07 he grabs his left hip, then continues to skate for another 20 seconds or so, though to me it looks like he can't accelerate. Hopefully it's something as simple as a cramp rather than a full-on muscle tear

So bye bye playoffs for the Oilers? Lol their bad start and now the McDavid injury, if it's for 2 weeks will be pretty bad.

So he wouldn’t have played any of the OT period? Something he plays most of.

McDavids utilization is common knowledge and not some great myth

Weird, Matthews and Marner's stats also drop alot when apart from eachother.

Its almost like good players, produce more with other good players.

That might just be enough missed time for another player to win the art Ross this year. Then again, who knows with Mcdavid. I’ll be interested to see how Draisaitl does without him. Last time he put the team on his back
