Honestly, even If he hits 65+ goals, that's not gonna be as impressive to me in this scoring environment as when Ovechkin did it. Ovechkin's 65 goals back then is so much more meaningful than Mcdavid's 66 or whatever it might be at the end of the season.

So technically yes, but McDavid is close. In fact, McDavid's is highest since Ovechkin 2008.
