McDavid heating up, what are odds on 150 points this season?

Yeah people blamed Nurse but nobody said a single word abou McJesus and his great play on Tarasenko's SH goal. I'd say it was more like McDavid's goal than Nurse's...

Nurse left McDavid scrambling. The St.Louis forward came in with speed and rubbed McDavid out. He could of ripped it around the boards but I'd rather him try to make an actually play instead of automatically giving up possession

McDavid did that Vs Winnipeg in the playoffs where he casually threw it up the boards to the opposing player and it cost them the game when he had seemingly time to execute a play

Huh? Nurse also hit McDavid after giving the puck away resulting in McDavid having to scramble behind the net. Kyrou then made a tremendous play to strip the puck while McDavid tried to recover.

Yeah, McDavid had to scramble so much he even had time to look behind. He still lost the puck. If it was someone else I bet Oilers fans would have accused him in crimes against humanity...

What nonsense is this? "...he even had time to look behind." What argument do you think you're making here?

McDavid was on the puck, he knew Kyruo was behind him and he turned the puck over. That goal was 80% on him which was obvious to any unbiased watcher...
Considering your "crimes against humanity" comment, you arrived in this thread with bias. Your judgment is immediately suspect.

So, breaking the play down even more, after Nurse's giveaway, McDavid had a chance to break up the play, but Nurse hit him. The puck now is behind the net, and McDavid now has to get there from a near standstill as Kyrou comes in with speed. Based on where the puck is, and McDavid being a left shot, he has to stretch out to take the puck on his backhand. Kyrou takes a good angle, and instead of hitting McDavid on his right side or flush from the back, cuts across to the left side of McDavid's body, catching arms and stick. Kyrou, being a very skilled player, easily picks up the puck that has been jarred loose and feeds it in front for the tying goal.

What exactly do you propose McDavid do differently in that situation? Kyrou played it perfectly.

McDavid just could shoot the puck at any direction as any 4th line/3rd pair player would have done at his place, and that's it, there wouldn't have been any goal...
You posted the video. You should have watched it first. His arms are outstretched ahead of him and he makes one-touch contact with the puck. There is no "shooting" to be done there. Like, I know he's super human, but growing his arms on command is a bit of a...stretch...so to speak.

He's a hockey superstar not some beer league casual player. He knew Kyrou was on him before he made that touch contact, so he could make that contact the right way and not turning the puck over. It was a turnover by any spirit and letter of hockey rules.

Connor McDavid: Physics and anatomy hold no sway!

You keep saying he know Kyrou was on him, as if that allows his arms to grow longer. You made a claim, but forgot to watch the video. Take it with a bit of dignity and move on.

By a leafs fan of course.

he has 28 points in 12 games now since that thread was made

Hindsight is 20/20. There are dozens of plays to be hard on a player bc of lack of effort. This is not one of them. The check which separated the player from the puck resulted in a scoring chance. He capitalized. End of story.

McD 34 power play points in 33 games, on pace to beat Mario's season record of 80 PPP by 4.
Huh, is this for real? I remember like threeish(?) seasons ago McDavid was crushing the league in EV scoring but the Oilers' PP was severely cold and held McDavid back. Now it's almost the opposite (though McDavid is still hanging around the top in EV scoring). Anyone know what's holding him back (relatively speaking) in EV?

McDavid did finish first in both EV and PP scoring in the covid season 20-21 with healthy margins and would've done it the year before (was one PPP behind Draisaitl with 7 fewer games) if healthy.

Anyone have the list of guys who won both stats in the same seasons? Before CMD the two previous ones were Pat Kane in 2015-16 and Daniel Sedin in 2010-11 (tied for 1st in EV pts). To achieve this feat winning the Art Ross by a comfortable margin is practically a requirement for obvious reasons.

None of Crosby, Malkin or Ovechkin managed to do this. It's also somewhat fascinating that quite frequently you'll have guys topping one or the other chart and not finish top5 in all-around scoring, sometimes not even top10 (Kovalev in 07-08).
