An incredible player and I’ll be the first to admit it.

However, since his 2022-23 form, he has notably declined and has had multiple players enter his tier (Nate, Kucherov).

Both are out scoring him the last 2 years. He clearly has some type of nagging injury or something going on. Still probably the best player in the league, but no longer the consensus best player.

Hes been the undisputed best player in the world reg + playoffs included

Hes been arguably the best player in the world just reg season

Mcdavid since 2023-2024 to today

46G + 124A = 170 pts in 101 games or 1.68 ppg (138 pts per 82)

Mackinnon since 2023/2024 to today

61G + 125A = 186 pts in 112 games or 1.66 ppg (136 pts per 82)

Kucherov since 2023/2024 to today

57G + 125A = 182 pts in 105 gakes or 1.73 ppg (142 pts per 82)

Mcdavid in the playoffs last year was significantly ahead of Mack or Kucherov.

Reg season wise the three are super close the last 100-110 games

In your closet
28 points in his last 15 games. Just came off a long playoff run where he was the first skater to win the Conn Smythe in a losing effort in 50 years. Pacing right up with the best in the league despite missed games and injury troubles over the last 1.3 seasons,

I think he's just fine.

Wow such courage and wisdom to admit and realize that.

He played a lot of hockey last year, and his eyes are on the cup. He probably doesn't feel the need to chase scoring titles at this point.

“But no longer the consensus best player in the league”.

Your one, lone (and rather inaccurate) take does not = consensus.

He is without question still the best player in the league I mean ffs it’s not even close. There’s literally zero debate about this.

He's sandbagging because he wants to give the Leafs a super discount and then break Gretzky's single season point record while winning Toronto's first cup in 6 decades. #GOATLife
