Well, people that are soft and play hockey sometimes like to have someone to protect them so they can play a way they are usually uncomfortable with because they're cowards. As well with the moral at an all time low it would do us well to have a guy who the players like, has a great attitude and works every shift in the lineup. The team is relatively the same as last year, they should be a presidents trophy candidate again, what's missing....heart, attitude and cohesiveness. The team is soft as butter, if Rempe makes everyone an inch taller and lightens the mood in the dressingroom it helps. I can't explain it any more than that and I'm not sure if you played any type of junior or pro hockey but having someone who has your back matters, it always has in hockey and there's no stats that can prove or disprove it, just statements from all the players in all pro leagues. We are exactly back to where we were with regards to toughness when Panarin got rag dolled, not for nothing Trochek got beat up last night too and crickets.

@Machinehead

The go to of when people explain voodoo nonsense is "you never played hockey"

Explain to me then how last year's team started off blazing hot without Rempe and how the two seasons before that they had 107 and 110 points respectively without Rempe.

The intellectually illogical stance doesn't become any more logical because you played in a beer league with some fantasy who liked to punch faces.

Hanging onto the opinions of the players is always funny to me because like, the media asks them about Rempe, right? What the f*** are they gonna say???!

Forget Rempe. Anybody. What are they gonna say?

"Sure wish that bum knew how to skate."

"Can't believe that asshole was -4!"

Maybe a coach will criticize somebody, but I've never, in any professional sport, heard somebody just hoy their teammate under a bus.

Not even something light like "he needs to be better." Nothing.

So I don't know what we expect there.

People think because their beer league hockey team full of Bros gets excited when someone fights, a guy that fights and plays 3 minutes a game in the NHL is some amazing asset.

Zibanejad has been royally panned on this board. Like, to the point of it being ugly. It's pretty unanimous with a couple of exceptions that people want him gone.

If you asked his teammates what they think of Zibanejad, every single one of them would say he's one of their most important players.

If you're going to value the opinions of players, you can't pick and choose when to do so.

The controversial take is: You need good players to win games and bad players make you worse no matter how hard they hit or how many faces they punch.

That's me with coaches. NHL coaches do so much objectively dumb shit that what they say is not even worth taking into account.

There's such a rotten culture around hockey coaching.

thread title needs another Buffalo in it, to make the complete Buffalo sentence
People use five because it's more fun to say "buffalo" again (you can use as many as ten is you utilize a direct address!) but in my opinion, only four are required.

Buffalo buffalo (bison from the city of Buffalo)[subject] buffalo (bully)[verb] buffalo (other bison)[object].

Then he faces the camera and tells us what we want to hear.
I don't like seeing him anywhere near our young guys . I have said that he has been disengaged for a few seasons now....We cannot ruin Berard and Edstrom - Kakko and Chytil-Cuylle and Othmann ....we gotta get rid of him . The kids are very impressionable . We have to bite the F'n bullet and suck it up....A hard working young club will be exciting . We have not experienced that in a long time . We are not cupping this season so let's back things up and start tearing it down for a few months and let our kids take over and maybe mix in a couple of savvy vets for guidance not named Kreider and hopefully Mika .

I didn’t even realize Buffalo had lost 7 in a row coming into this game .

Rangers should try Miller at forward before dumping him. Burns and Byfuglien have done it. Make it so he doesnt have to defend and play to his strength. Rangers don't have an outside the box coach, but they need to start thinking outside the box, because this team is a stale ham sandwich.
What strength?

Miller strikes me as one of those guys that's had everyone talking up how he has "all the tools, 1st pairing upside if he just put it together" and he's gone out and tried to play like he's a top level defenseman and...he just can't. Not at this time. He's trying to skip over some of the development curve and play above his head.
I liken this to Brady Skjei...had a good first season, thought he could be Ryan McDonagh, struggled and was let go but eventually developed into a good player.
Miller needs to stop playing like he's a star and focus on nailing down his basics and go from there. I can't believe how many times I've seen him randomly wiff on a pass because he just leans back on his back foot and tries to wing it to someone and screws it up. It's like a quarterback always throwing off his back foot, you know it's bad, everyone knows it's bad, but they keep doing it.

Fix your basic shit first and then work on the super star stuff
