A concussion is permanent brain damage, maybe you need to read up on it?

More than a flinch but not as egregious as other elbows. It was dirty but then again Minni is a dirty team and the embellishment is kind of embarrassing. Therefore, it is hard to know how serious the player was hurt. These soccer antics have to stop!

Hartman being Hartman. He is a menace but Draisital is also not innocent!
 
Canadian hockey fans think everything is a dive. They did it during the WJC when their team acted like the Hanson Bros en route to a sub 0.500 finish

Obviously if you have a lengthy concussion history like Johannsen, it becomes easier and easier to get another one. This would be his 4th official concussion in his career? Maybe more, lots of UBI's and Undisclosed injuries in his history too. A small love tap could knock you out at that point. Saw it with Khaira, saw it was Larkin. For the record, I don't think it was a "dive", but I also don't think McDavid's 4cm movement was intended to hurt him or target his head.

What are you talking about? What does a concussion have to do with the trip on Draisaitl that has been called a slewfoot so many times but has no similarity to a slewfoot whatsoever?

well.... they dont think its a dive when their players dive... so
 
I wouldn't say it was an accident because McDavid did stick his elbow out a little, but it was create room. Mcdavid is not even looking at him. He shimmy shaked and MJ was caught, and awkwardly stuck his chin out (reason why he's concussion prone)

McDavid immediately went over to check on him as soon as the whistle blew. Nothing malicious about it.

wow. i am a bit surprised. i typically agree with you. not here. He stuck his elbow out, and, for anyone who say otherwise, McDavid is definitely enough of an athlete to land an elbow without staring at his target. To suggest otherwise is pretty funny. He can do a 'no look' anything, imo.

I have nothing against McDavid

Comparing your boy toy Hartman to Draisaitl at how dirty they are is hilarious. Hartman is a headhunter goof, Draisaitl plays the game tough and takes no prisoners tough. 2 different styles

If that weak attempt at an elbow is indeed an elbow then good for McDavid. Smash these goofs brains in if the refs aren't going to call dirty plays towards him. The league is joke. Trying to neuter its best player to even the playing field. Hartman is a textbook example of a goof the league needs to phase out.

I agree with everything you wrote to be honest. Very reasonable take.

I do wonder if Johansson dove though? Eg. O Kase and JJ Khaira (Oiler and a Czech lol) both were knocked out cold by very glancing blows in the last 5 years. Neither hit was viscious. They were just on their umpteenth concussions.

I know very little about Johannson but it sounds like he has a similar concussion history to Kase and Khaira.

From the gdt last night. And this thread. You'd swear this was Bertuzzi on Moore though.

And I will add.. the wild have no luck. They have this beautiful squad.. rise to top of standings and then lose one core player after another.

The force of impact has nothing to do with the movement of McDavid's elbow away from his body. He was crossing Johansson's path with speed, and that's where the force of impact came from.

I would agree that McDavid did not intend to injure, it was probably intended to be a pick to buy some time for the guy he passed to. Nonetheless, at least a fine would have been appropriate since league stopped focusing on intent with their fines/suspensions awhile back, and started to give way more weight to the outcome.

The force is also added with Mojo stopping, pivoting and then going in the direction opposite McDavids elbow. And if you see McDavids feet through the whole sequence he does not change direction or make a stride, he’s just gliding and trying to focus on landing his back pass to Drai. Mojo was trying to stick check McDavids forward movement with the puck, when McDavid back passed he changed direction and unfortunately right into the path McDavids elbow was already at.

It’s a tough call by the League but I see where you are coming from. In that head contact whether intentional or not is often called. The onus being on the player making the check. But since the Mojo may have added to it with his own movements, maybe they gave McDavid a break for that.
