But that was point my....there is no doubt there....it was nothing like a slewfoot, nowhere near as dangerous as a slewfoot. No doubt, you don't want guys kicking at other players feet, but happens in a lot of battles for pucks on the boards. Make no mistake, I think he tripped him on purpose here, but I don't think there was a lot of danger there....his blades barely left the ice, didn't get any higher than Draisaitl's skates.....but agree....you don't want guys doing it.
More than a flinch but not as egregious as other elbows. It was dirty but then again Minni is a dirty team and the embellishment is kind of embarrassing. Therefore, it is hard to know how serious the player was hurt. These soccer antics have to stop!Mcdavid did flinch his elbow a bit but Johansson dropped like a sack of hammers. So either Johansson is soft or he tried to sell it.
Mcdavid will get a fine at most.
Incidental, unintended, and unfortunate head contact by Johannsen's head to McDavid's Elbow. Refs couldn't catch it, no one knew what happened, so no call was made. Cause it looked in real time like what it was, a nothing play.
What's more egregious is the ref watching this head on and not calling this Leg Sweep / Trip:
Both should be fined.
Johansson should take up better acting lessons though. The on-ice officials didn’t buy his flop, he should sell it better next time.
He’s playing the long conJohansson didn't return to the game
Super embarrassing embellishment from the guy who is now on IR for a concussion. Great call, JohnnyMore than a flinch but not as egregious as other elbows. What are you talking about? What does a concussion have to do with the trip on Draisaitl that has been called a slewfoot so many times but has no similarity to a slewfoot whatsoever?A concussion is permanent brain damage, maybe you need to read up on it?
well.... they dont think its a dive when their players dive... soCanadian hockey fans think everything is a dive. They did it during the WJC when their team acted like the Hanson Bros en route to a sub 0.500 finish

This thread would benefit from something other than Zapruder-like footage. No fine.. no penalty.. no followup.
I'll break it down to 80 percent of the absolutely enraged posters are Oiler haters. Same ones that blame him when the oilers don't win a cup.lol
wow. i am a bit surprised. i typically agree with you. not here. He stuck his elbow out, and, for anyone who say otherwise, McDavid is definitely enough of an athlete to land an elbow without staring at his target. To suggest otherwise is pretty funny. He can do a 'no look' anything, imo.No fine.. no penalty.. no followup.

Comparing your boy toy Hartman to Draisaitl at how dirty they are is hilarious. Hartman is a headhunter goof, Draisaitl plays the game tough and takes no prisoners tough. 2 different stylesMore than a flinch but not as egregious as other elbows. Hartman being Hartman. He is a menace but Draisital is also not innocent!
He knew exactly what he was doing. WTF are you talking about. Dirty little play from a guy who knows he’s bulletproofI wouldn't say it was an accident because McDavid did stick his elbow out a little, but it was create room. Mcdavid is not even looking at him. He shimmy shaked and MJ was caught, and awkwardly stuck his chin out (reason why he's concussion prone)
McDavid immediately went over to check on him as soon as the whistle blew. Nothing malicious about it.
I agree with everything you wrote to be honest. Very reasonable take.wow. i am a bit surprised. i typically agree with you. not here. I have nothing against McDavid
am not a Wild fan
Mcadavid intentionally stuck his elbow into Johanssons chin
Johansson also dove
Obviously if you have a lengthy concussion history like Johannsen, it becomes easier and easier to get another one. This would be his 4th official concussion in his career? Maybe more, lots of UBI's and Undisclosed injuries in his history too. A small love tap could knock you out at that point. Saw it with Khaira, saw it was Larkin. For the record, I don't think it was a "dive", but I also don't think McDavid's 4cm movement was intended to hurt him or target his head.
The force is also added with Mojo stopping, pivoting and then going in the direction opposite McDavids elbow. And if you see McDavids feet through the whole sequence he does not change direction or make a stride, he’s just gliding and trying to focus on landing his back pass to Drai. Mojo was trying to stick check McDavids forward movement with the puck, when McDavid back passed he changed direction and unfortunately right into the path McDavids elbow was already at.The force of impact has nothing to do with the movement of McDavid's elbow away from his body. He was crossing Johansson's path with speed, and that's where the force of impact came from.
I would agree that McDavid did not intend to injure, it was probably intended to be a pick to buy some time for the guy he passed to. Nonetheless, at least a fine would have been appropriate since league stopped focusing on intent with their fines/suspensions awhile back, and started to give way more weight to the outcome.
