whats he gonna do fight every hack artist cheater in the nhl that are constantly hanging onto himMcDavid faces nowhere near the punishment star players in the 80s and 90s had to endure. He cant handle a wrestling match with a 5'6" guy and retaliates with a head shot. Why doesnt he just drop the gloves - i mean hes 8 inches taller and like 40 lbs heavier. Should be at least 2 games.
Yeh, thats called playing hockey. You battle for the puck. What Garland did for 10 seconds wasn't hockey.. it was tkachuk hockey ..McDavid clearly lost the puck and tried to interfere with Garland. If he doesn't, Garland likely has an empty net goal. That's where the play should have been blown dead to avoid everything that ensued.
McDavid's stick was stationary, and made contact as Hornek closed in on McDavid. For spearing or slashing a player needs to jab or swing a stick. McDavid did neither, but keep grasping at straws...

Either allow this shit in the game so players don't get frustrated or call it right.
Meh, if league wants to encourage Marchand, Tkachuk hockey then keep suspending McDavid and eventually Bedard etc.I guarantee you other teams will welcome McDavid taking penalties and/or getting suspended. A guy like Marchand does that stuff every game.
Time will tell where this leads to.The only message McDavid sent is that he’s easily goated into taking idiotic penalties.
For this game, but if it’s near the end of the 1st or 2nd period? Could be game changing if you can make him lose his temper like that. Huge advantage for teams with skilled agitatorsTime will tell where this leads to.
Penalty with 2 seconds left meant nothing.
Maybe if Garland fakes an injury. Both him and Myers should get 5 games but they'll get 2 games since the league won't suspend their superstar for 5 games. Myers is lucky here since they can't give him more for the same type of dirty play.
Really? It is a pretty blatant penalty. It isn't suspension worthy like some of his other high sticks, but it certainly is worth a minor.
Maybe McDavid saw an actual nice view and lost control of his body.
Luke Gazdic was right.Oilers fans upset that the penalty wasn't called on Garland when there should have already been a penalty called for interference on Petterson 30 seconds before the Oilers were in the attacking zone for the exact same thing. Okay.. lol. Doesn't mean crosscheck in the side of the face but whatever. Cya Thursday
Yeh, this isn't Bedard or Celebrini. McDavid has been part of NHL for a decade now. Goalie pulled and 30 seconds left .. I guess if someone in future tries to tie him up for 15 of them they will receive the same retaliation. For this game, but if it’s near the end of the 1st or 2nd period? Thats a subjective point of view. Im being objective, which perhaps can be upsetting for you, bubyouve got it EXACTLY backwards , the garbage behaviorwas by the cheating clown garland
Which is exactly what they would want. A 5 minute powerplay and potential suspension to McDavid? Teams will take that every day. McDavid just put a target on his back, the league knows he has no control over his emotions.Yeh, this isn't Bedard or Celebrini. McDavid has been part of NHL for a decade now. Disagree with some of this.I would like if he did this a few times a year. It creates a little buzz and shows off what lack of talented players do to him (Like Garland hugging him and grabbing him like a weirdo for 20 seconds).
It embarrasses the refs. Oilers are so far ahead of non playoff teams like Vancouver, the game is meaningless. Let some untalented hacks, like Garland tonight, know this is what will happen you try grabbing my junk for 30 seconds.
Like seriously. The vertically challenged Garland ranks right at the top for drawn calls. Too many floppers get rewarded. Meanwhile McDavid is drawing the lowest in his career. Edmonton 30th as well. They don't sit around and throw 15 shots a game like Vancouver. They dominate possession most games.
No special treatment is needed. Just call what everybody sees. It's tough for the neandrathals tonight to call things by the book though.
In the end, McDavid should get like a 10K fine, but they will suspend him a game or two.
Good on McDavid.
Garland is such a bully!Disagree with some of this.
McDavid deserves much more than 10K fine.
Garland did what he had to do.. tied up the greatest scoring threat for all but 2.5 seconds. It was a fail on the refs part for not calling him. I am sure Garland was expecting a penalty against him but didn't care since it secured the win.
Especially when the refs were giving the Canucks power plays like candies in the first period. Then a guy is mauling McDavid for like 30 seconds and nothing. That was frustrating as bleep. I understand why McDavid did that but "you can't do that". He deserves the match penalty and a suspension.Yeh, thats called playing hockey. You battle for the puck. Yes it was sad to see Garland put his gloves back on after dropping them for a fight..Anyway, I'm glad we can all agree that McDavid is right to be too scared to fight Connor Garland.
