SmoothI hate when people hijack threads, but I'm going to driveby hijack this thread to say id love to see McAvoy in Columbus.
It happened in last major change and I said red should be a reserved color for trades or other big news,It’s like some kind of sick psychology experiment
Lets ignore Ostlund completely for now. How exactly did you come to the conclusion the Helenius, a player drafted 14th overall in the last draft who was rated by McKenzie to go even higher (9th), is a "sort of "middle of the roster" at best type" of prospect?
Helenius' strengths are not as a finisher nor are his strengths beholden to others creating for him. I'm not sure which player you have him confused with, but in terms of a silly thread, I did think this particular comment was off the mark for his game. He's more akin to a Lundell who is a middle of the lineup player who makes those around him better by taking care of details on and off the puck than he is to something you describe.Admittedly, i'm not a big fan of Helenius or just generally players like him. But i don't see him as the sort of winger who is going to be a true catalyst on a Top-6 scoring line who drives play offensively. He's more of a "goal scorer" who is going to need linemates to set him up. And he hasn't shown much as a rookie in the AHL that indicates he's going to be an absolutely elite "top line caliber" finisher in the NHL.
Ostlund is another guy who is a very good prospect, certainly; but yet another in a long line of these guys the Sabres always "win the draft" on. Smallish skilled guys who don't really have pure gamebreaking top line play driving talent. Fine players, but not what you build a contender around. They're the secondary "supporting pieces".
Ostlund and Helenius are the typical playmaking center mold, which we need more of. Thompson Kulich and Norris are all goal scorers first.Helenius' strengths are not as a finisher nor are his strengths beholden to others creating for him. Other than his skating and ability to gain the zone.
Now back to people debating a poorly thought out trade idea that likely should've had itself locked about three pages ago.
And HFBoards really overrate magic beans lolBoston fans really overrate McAvoy if they think this is fair.
