Proposal: McAvoy and ‘26 second for Power, Krebs, Helenius and a Ostlund.

I am all in for Charie. However, you are underselling Power's value. He has #1 potential. it is more or less a 1 for 1. Proven for younger+potential. Sabres add something for the risk.

When McAvoy was Power’s age he had a top 10 Norris finish and had been the TOI leader for a Cup finalist. They only have a 5 year age difference. I think you have been in the “potential” prison for too long. It’s a big add to get to McAvoy. Nevermind the fact that a LD as the center piece for McAvoy is like a LD being the centerpiece for Tage Thompson…it’s adding to an area of strength for no reason and subtracting from an area of weakness. If the Bruins moved McAvoy their only RD under term would be Peeke. Might as well trade Pasta too at that point.

That fixes nothing for Buffalo - they need another D added to what they have not to subtract one and replace with another
That literally fixes everything for Buffalo. One of the main reason why the Sabres has been disappointing over the years is their lack of experience on the backend. You rarely see a team with a top 4 under 25 having great success. Not only that, but you also fill a major role for Buffalo at RHD, which they desperately need.

You aren’t acquiring a nobody here, you’re getting a top 10 D in this league who can give you a consistent two-way game for 23-25 minutes a night at a position where you have nothing but dust.

What a horrible offer.

Yeah, but Buffalo would get Boston's 2nd rounder, which is clearly just as valuable as any of the four 1st round draft picks they'd be sending out! /s

This proposal is asinine. If Buffalo is moving a recent 1st overall plus two recent first round selections who have been performing well at the AHL level as rookies, they'd better be getting something incredible back. Charlie is a very solid piece, but he ain't that incredible.

I actually think it's kind of reasonable?? A bit of an overpay from Buffalo, I'd say it was balanced if the 2nd and Ostlund were removed.

But it's reasonable in that this is the type of deal I think Buffalo should be trying to make and the type of deal I think the Bruins should be trying to make. The Bruins need to rebuild. The Sabres need credibility as a team that can win now. But McAvoy I believe has a NMC, and I have doubts that the Bruins or Sabres orgs would be so bold, even though it makes sense.

D take longer to develop. Dahlin is still getting better somehow. The position handedness is a fair issue. If Boston is rebuilding I think you worry less about the hand and more about getting what you want. It is video game GM style, but trading current core at start of rebuild for a younger version of your core is reasonable and more teams should do it. trading Charlie and Pasta for lets just say Power, Kulich, Peterka + futures is actually smart. Can you imagine if Pitt moved Crosby Malkin and Letang 3 years ago when it was obvious the team was on the way down?

I think the Bruins fan base has seen how full tear downs can go from afar. And they have successfully retooled in the past. Pasta and McAvoy are both in their 20s, they aren't mid-to-late 30s Penguins. Hampus, Lorhei and Zadorov make up a solid base for a D group. Swayman has shown he can be a very good goalie in front of an average team and raise them up. They obviously need a couple of first line forwards to get everyone in the forward group slotted where they belong. And finding them is easier said than done. But, if they blew it all up, they will still need those pieces and they would need to find elite guys like Pasta and McAvoy, too. Trying a retool might not work! But, total rebuilds can take a decade or more as you know.

Specifically for this package, I just don't see Power developing the two way game enough to be "the guy" on a Cup level team, and with him only being 5 years younger, the juice isn't worth the squeeze.

Let me get you looked st thr pkayers stats snf judged from therr...igniting the fact hr was p ln saying with adults.

If he was in the CHL posting 1.3ppg rate you would have adifferent opinion

I mean, he is a guy I was hoping my team would target at the draft when I thought they might look to start the retool last summer. I just think you probably want him at C to get the most out of him and I'd be hard hard hard pressed to project his skill set/size combo to #1C. I think his floor is third line winger and his ceiling is #2C.

There are good pieces in the offer! But it's all secondary roster pieces for a primary roster piece. And that doesn't really get the Bruins anywhere but into praying in the lottery land.

Th dr y are giving up with yoo much. The woukd deer center depth and csp fkrcibilith with having ELCs in the top 9.

Boston has an identity as a team. They know what type of player they like, they get those types of players.

Power is not a Bruin. He doesn't have the Bruin heart, he plays like a Sabre. Dude gives up on plays and doesn't have any intensity, he is an incredibly frustrating player to play with but not frustrating to play against.

Not a chance the Bruins would trade for him.

I mean he is of similar ilk to Lorhei. Very big guys with pretty good offense and poor D that you want to project. Power is two years younger, but Lorhei having a more upward trajectory this year. Obviously, salary aside, I take Power 10 out of 10 times... but a roster with Power and Lorhei is poorly constructed and makes no sense. So now Boston is committed to Lindhom (NMC), Zadorov (NMC) and Power at big money on the left side, and have an extra LD in Lorhei... that I guess they would be looking to trade for a RD? It makes no sense.

Power is just a complete non-starter as the primary piece.
