You can't pin this entire loss on Jack Campbell. The whole team capitulated in the first 10 minutes of this game.
But I just don't see a good NHL goalie not making a big save here and there to stem the tide.
We've seen plenty of times where the Leafs have started a game with that kind of pressure and had not much to show for it. Because good NHL goalies are....well, pretty damn good.
Haven't really seen that from Campbell.
This comes on the heels of a bad slump this year, and a mediocre playoffs last year. He may be Andersen-esque in his inability to handle pressure. Gallagher's opening goal in Game 7 comes to mind. Just an inexcusable goal.
At this point, I'd rather see anyone else in net. I can't be the only one who feels this way?
Fire this thread into the Sun immediately! That's a bad goal...even Kallgren saves that.
HAHAHAHAHAHA indeed. And I do appreciate this thread because it once again made me laugh.HAHAHAHAHA whoever made this thread......legit mental![]()

New thread, definitely! So. Do we sit him for game 6? Or should that be it's own thread?
Maybe but you'd sit him the next game?Campbell picked the right time to get hot. If he had crapped the bed in game 5 he'd be getting roasty toasty on here today.
UPDATEDAll star and backup in one season...only in Toronto
My theory coming in to anyone that would listen
If our goalies have a save % starting with .9 or better we win the game
If our goalies have a save % starting with a .8 or worse we lose the game
My theory is 4-0 so far.
If he wins us a playoff series he will get a good deal and thats da way da NHL works .. if he takes us on a good playoff run he will get a better deal .. if he wins us a Cup then he gets Binners deal .. thats it .. no one gives a sh*t what da LABEL is .. WIN in playoffs and you get paid ie Binner and Murray .. after that who cares about regular season hockeyI've honestly had no problems with Campbell this series. Could his stats be better? Sure...but look at the talent he's facing. He's outplayed Vasilevskiy this series, that's all you can hope for.
Look at the huge save he made after it was 3-3 to make sure it stayed tied. He's a fighter.
I just hope he doesn't get overpaid in the offseason. He's a good goalie but he's not an elite goalie.
Zeke can do the math for what conversion rate for your trade is needed for this to workMy problem with Campbell is he's exciting making big saves but also letting in ones that are back breakers. I don't want to be down 0-2 again so quick just because Rielly didn't take a shot he should have took. Our issues early last night were not issues that should have lead to going down 0-2
When you accumulate it all, it breaks down to an average goalie whose exciting.
I would trade some of the big exciting saves (as in I'd let them go in) for saves on the low to medium risk goals.
The goals against is the same at the end of the day for average exciting goalies, even in a game he lets in 3-5 there will be big saves, but if you can increase saves on the low to medium risk goals and decrease some of the SOUUUUPPPPPP saves, the goals against would be lower.
Maybe it's just the caffeine hitting me making me come up with this logic but I feel like it's correct.
Hmmmmm sounds familiar.....My problem with Campbell is he's exciting making big saves but also letting in ones that are back breakers
