You can't pin this entire loss on Jack Campbell. The whole team capitulated in the first 10 minutes of this game.

But I just don't see a good NHL goalie not making a big save here and there to stem the tide.

We've seen plenty of times where the Leafs have started a game with that kind of pressure and had not much to show for it. Because good NHL goalies are....well, pretty damn good.

Haven't really seen that from Campbell.

This comes on the heels of a bad slump this year, and a mediocre playoffs last year. He may be Andersen-esque in his inability to handle pressure. Gallagher's opening goal in Game 7 comes to mind. Just an inexcusable goal.

At this point, I'd rather see anyone else in net. I can't be the only one who feels this way?

This makes 0 sense.

Maybe if we had a better goalie to start. Campbell is inconsistent, you got to play him and hope we get the good Campbell. He's been pretty mediocre this series, way too many rebounds that the Leafs have hid when they played well.

Even that 'stop' on Stamkos last game, Stamkos shot it right at him. However, we have no reasonable alternative so we're riding Campbell sink or swim.

Campbell was also in net for the two victories. Credit to Kallgren for shutting the door tonight in relief, but...no dice whatsoever on this kind of change.

Nah. Kallgren hasn't shown much. At least with Campbell we know he might have a great game. He's far and away the most talented goalie available for this team right now. I don't love it, but nobody else in the system is a better option

If you put Kallgren in net for game five, you might as well tell Leafs Nation you don't care about winning. I like Kallgren, but be realistic, he's not NHL ready and his stats in the regular season pretty much tells that story. I like him, I think he battles hard, but he's not good enough to be tasked with facing the back to back Stanley Cup champions in a pivotal game 5 on home ice, it's just never going to happen. It'd be different if Campbell were bad all series and pulled 2-3 games in a row, but it hasn't gone that way. Campbell's effort in game 4 matched the effort of the rest of the team. He played poorly, but not despite the team in front of him, but as well as the team in front of him. Team hung him out to dry, but he was pretty bad on some of those goals too.

Kallgren is good to have if you need to pull Campbell like they did tonight so his confidence isn't completely wrecked more than it probably is now. Should've pulled him sooner as far as I'm concerned.

Keefe has made some baffling line-up decisions, but even he's not dumb enough to try and win an important game 5 at home with a green rookie 4th stringer goaltender that isn't NHL ready. That'd be career suicide.

You want them to go with a rookie in Game #5?

Jesus, put down the bong man.

I think that was the intent but we kept taking penalties and bringing in Kallgren in that situtation would have probably been a death sentence for the poor kid.

Now if you mean like pull Soup after loike the 3rd goal then I agree. That's when I would have done it.

I think after three goals it should've been done as well. I didn't mean while on the penalty kill. Leafs took way too many penalties again as they did in game two. Can't get a pushback if you're killing penalties half the game.
