Wow. That's some unexpected development. So much for Slovaks developing scoring strategies against Rinne. ;) I wonder if they've ever heard of Saros.

I'm not worried. Saros is awesome goalie.

Yup. The way rinne opens the game with the stick, gives opening passes and even opens play with throwing the puck from glove hand to the own players stick is great though, and Saros is far from Rinne in that. When it comes to just saving pucks, Saros is good enough.

Yeah, I'm quite confident in Saros getting the job done and excited to see him play. Maybe the team will play even better in front of him, who knows?

Just realized that all 3 of team Finland's goalies are Nashville goalies  (not sure if they still have Engren's rights, but he was drafted by them in 2007)

Slovak TV color guy LašÃ¡k (shutout record holder from 10 years ago in Ostrava) was also a Nashville goalie, and Slovak TV analyst Lintner was a Nashville defenceman. ;)

#Universe. The end must be near guys. :sarcasm:

Maybe they knew yesterday that Rinne won't be playing tonight. They never told media that. They just said that Rinne is sick. So Saros could prepare tonights game in peace.

If that's the case, the management did something right.

Slovak TV color guy Lašák (shutout record holder from 10 years ago in Ostrava) was also a Nashville goalie, and Slovak TV analyst Lintner was a Nashville defenceman. ;)

Lašák won't be there today though, he went home after the game against Norway. I think Šatan is the color guy today, so no Nashville connection there.

E: Nice to know that Saros is 2nd goalie.

:yo: Saros is indeed awesome, I've been miffed all tournament that they've used Rinne, who we know is great, instead of using this tournament to blood new goalies.
So Saros needs 3,5 shutouts to break the record? Challenge accepted! :D

So Rinne saw Slovakia's lineup, took a look at their first line and was like "s***w this, I ain't riskin' my shutout record against those guys!"

Saros is an awesome goalie, though one has to wonder if having his last real game about two weeks ago is going to affect his play. Luckily he's a young guy, they warm up pretty quick.

I really doubt that was the case, just should have shown Rinne our previous games and all he would have wanted would be to play :D

We will play with a lot of heart as always but hopefully there will be a lot of skill as well :p

Finnish goalie school :yo: I trust Saros more than just some random NHL backup or subpar starter.

Excited to see how Saros performs. Sucks Pekka is sick but the benefit is they are both our goalies so we get a good look at Saros today.

I trust in Saros, goaltending wise we have no problems. If I have to worry about something, it's scoring goals. But I believe we'll win tonight.

Exciting start to the game! A lot of Finnish possession in the offensive zone and a couple of nice tries. Love how loud the arena is, good atmosphere!
