You just don't get it, 99% of all Germans don't give a **** about hockey. And 99% of kids have no idea what hockey is, because there is close to zero coverage in the mass media. During the DEL Playoffs I had a look at the sports section of the main Sunday newspaper: 23 pages soccer, 2 pages Formula 1, 1 page tennis, 1 page basketball, half a page boxing and only 2 short lines in the 'Other sports' column about the DEL Playoffs.

Yes I got the pm now, for sure! Everything is what it is and can not change at any rate even if there are opportunities. I mean how could Germany even think of a way to improve, the country is lousy in all respects.

Btw I will not employ you ; p

Has this german goalie left a rebound all game? He's even swallowing double screened shots.

Klingbergk (yeah watching the German broadcast) has been good, to bad that he hasn't got better results of it.

You can't compare that. The Sharks and the Kings don't need to bother with youth programs because that all happens anyhow all over Canada and the US hockey belt.

They have their youth programs though. Hell, California (25 288) has almost as many players as Germany (29 371).

Probably would be better with more nations in it! but serriously you think that game look funny:p?

Looks hilarious. Need to redesign those sticks, haha.

Yeah, it would do great in Canada. Get some old pro players who shy away from hitting and you have a national team.

Yeah we'd have no trouble putting up a team, for sure. Same with the U.S. for that matter.

Not going to take off as a spectator sport anytime soon in NA but I think playing would be popular enough once people knew what the heck it was.

Hehe if you say so:)!

Well good night everyone! take care and Go Germany! 2goals in 10min you will make it:yo:

Don't worry, I'm not interested in working for a delusional dreamer who apparently thinks money for rinks and interest in hockey is just appearing from thin air...

What I think the German hockey federation should focus on is increase media exposure of hockey. That way you get more kids playing -> better results of the national team -> more kids playing -> even better results of the national team -> more rinks due to more demand....
That's something that can happen in maybe a 25-30 year time frame. Unfortunately most German fans think the only way to improve German international competitiveness is by reducing the foreigners in the DEL. It's like a quick fix which won't fix anything. The reality is that on a short time frame it is close to impossible to improve German hockey.

The charm with bandy is to play at **** cold places and standing in the audience with a pocket flask with your beverage of your choice. Last WC in Russia they played when it was -40.

The athlete level in hockey is so much higher so I really think some old pros would constitute a dangerous constellation. Yes the spectators will not come but perhaps Canada could help bring the sport to the Olympics:yo:

Hockey players and their muscles last 5 minutes on a bandy ice. Maybe guys like OEL would do ok, but then he's a young guy.

Northern Canada would be all over that. Usually just do it on our porch. Might as well go watch some giant hockey/soccer.

What a snipe!

Media exposure has gone down the worse Germany is, big surprise there. You can't build interest with forcefeeding that way. Get the ****ing program and the ppl will follow, real rocket science right there for sure. About money from thin air, poorer countries can manage to build sport programs so the money is not the issue here.

And no one complaints. The players are skating around with frozen snot all over their face and everyone in the audience standing there like half drunk snowmen.

I still think that the pool of players in Canada have the sort which it takes. Well skating isn't Canada's strength but still.
