USA are playing really really good. Imagine if NHL had international sized rinks. Players with skill and speed would be even better and big slow players would play in the AHL.

It would also slow the game down a lot. Often games on international ice are excruciating chess games of trapping and little contact. I'd like to see hybrid size rinks in the NHL though, that seems like a good compromise.

TSN *****ing that Russia gets a player off the ice because of a slash, instead of pointing out a guy got whacked on the hand away from the puck and should of been a penalty on the US.

Or custom rink sizes for each team.

Agree. Reffing is poor. Usually it goes against US/Canada though. Now Russia understands how it feels. Usually it evens out. That is not a warm thought though....

I believe that is from the lower skill level on international ice. With the speed and size that NHL players has there would still be a lot of body contact. But, yeah hybrid may be a good compromise. To be honest anything except the way it is now with the dump n chase all day and almost none midzone play.

Malkin is doing a lot more whinning than one should in a game largely being played against 18-21 year olds

Just ****ing brutal refereeing the whole tournament.

Blatant slashes go uncalled almost every game.

Ridicilous goalie crease calls so many times i lost count.

Clear goals are no goals.

wtf

I'm starting to cheer every time Russia clears the zone. Its easy to say that the US is just more intense and outworking them, but it seems to me that there is more to it than that. The US seems to have a system that has worked flawlessly, except against Belarus, in every game so far. Is it a carry over of the NTDP, or is it just that the coach is that brilliant? Every player seems to be at the right place at the right time, two steps ahead of the puck - almost Soviet-like.

Our team has four elite wingers: Ovechkin, Panarin, Kovalchuk, and Tarasenko.

None of them are playing with Malkin.

Then people wonder why we can't score. #znaroklogic
