He's trying to look around him. You're really reaching now.

Yeah, he watches around right at the time of the shot, makes sense:snakehead and the Cezch player was moving away from Smiths view after this picture.. so he got even better vision after this was taken..

That's not right before the goal.

Doesn't matter, the second that happens the rule is that play must stop and go to a neutral zone faceoff.

I agree that the goal should be allowed, but it's disallowed because of a stupid rule not a stupid ref.

So the guy standing right in front, that you can see Mike Smith trying to look around, is not "obscuring" his view?

Yes i did but claiming he in any way established position in the crease on that play is just too far fetched.

He is moving sideways on the crease line and is barely inside. That is not establishing position.

Doesn't matter, he was still in the crease and the play should've been called dead.

it's a great feeling, even more there are no Czechs crying all the time

Yeah, we'll see the newspapers after the game about if there's any crying about it or not. Or maybe you're just used to that ***** quality in your low-standard league.

Did not establish position (yep, minor stationary violations have been whistled), did not block the view. I think it is at least debatable that it could have been accepted. Anyway the rule needs changing if it leads to this kind of clear goal being disallowed. I'm now done with this subject.

I don't think you Czech's are going to get much sympathy from Canadians about disallowed goals, bad reffing. Canada has been on the other end of bad calls in international hockey for years. In WJHC in 2002 i think it was THe Russian goalie deliberately knocked the net off the moorings just as Canada was scoring, that would have tied the game. Should have been or goal or penalty shot, nothing was called.

The rule is pretty clear. Whether it's a good rule, that's another discussion. Hockey gods stopped being merciful for the Czechs after the quarterfinal.

yeah they are all crying in facebook right now. just check iihf posts :P
On facebook there is always someone crying about something. If they are crying just on facebook, I'm pretty surprised. Yesterday on that Finnish goal, there was already Putin involved in it on this very board.

Game was tied 2-2, Finland scored a goal but it was negated because of a questionable penalty call and the Czech scored a goal on the powerplay. The penalty basically caused a difference of 2 goals in favor of the Czech.

oh wowzer.

thanks for "the More you Know" moment.:)
